W9R1 A fly in the ointment

Actually...in my eye to be precise πŸ‘€ pesky countryside runs! Tried to get it out but couldn't so ended up running the whole way with said fly tagging along.

So the actual run went well. First 30 min stint. Tried to map out a 5k loop on OS maps app last night thinking foolishly I may come somewhere close. I think I did about 4k in 30 mins but forgot to start my Fitbit when I started the run section so am guestimating. But still happy with that.

Normally run after work so wasn't sure whether to eat or not before so didn't but then got side tracked and didn't go out until about 2 1/2 hours after i got up. My legs were a bit wobbly by the end and I think I needed food.

So anyway...30 mins...I did it! Yay!! The mantra of don't stop, keep running is now embedded and part of my internal dialogue, which I think is a good thing and is how I got to this point. Have always given up too easily on previous attempts at running. Those hills that nearly killed me a few weeks ago were doable (well one could still be done for attempted murder!) Might drive to a flat place for my next run and see what difference it makes.

Good luck to everyone wherever you are on this journey...don't stop...keep running! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Well done. Please avoid hills whenever possible 🀣

One benefit of running in glasses is no flies in them - perhaps worth getting some super-cool wrap arounds for this time of year?

I might need to do that. I suppose in my eye is better than up my nose which has also happened 😎😷

The worst has to be straight to the back of the throat. But the nose must’ve been sore?

Question is how to get rid of it then?! So many little midgey gnat things where I run they always get somewhere πŸ˜‚

Don’t know if it’s still the case but a few weeks ago aldi Had cycling sunglasses for something like Β£2, I’m sure they’d be suitable for running too ☺️

Will look and see if they still have any thanks πŸ‘

Standing on the verge of being an actual runner I have not only embraced my Inner Snail (we've also been txting each other about possible heavy petting) but also my Outer Fly. I can now inhale and expel flies with almost brute force.

If necessary I may one day fully ingest a fly and be ready to take my place on "I'm a Celebrity". As they say "It's only a little harmless protein". :-)

OH no! Pesky little critter! It must have been so distracting.

Well done on completing the run - even with wildlife hanging out if your eye.

Your next run is your penultimate run! Wow! Go go saartjie !

Sunnies from sports shop are very lightweight and don't bounce like fashion sunnies. πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜€πŸƒπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜€πŸƒ

Yay...an excuse to go shopping and pass it off as valid in pursuit of exercise πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‰ Cant believe the last week is here. After that i dont have to feel guilty if i stop to remove a bug from a bodily part πŸ˜†

Running in the morning as early as possible is the way forward. For one thing, being very lazy, it cuts down on feasible excuses for not going, and second, there are fewer flies about! Also, you have the whole of the day ahead to feel smug.

Sadly I struggle to get up for my normal time. Getting up an hour earlier probably ain't gonna happen! πŸ˜‰

Well done to you! πŸ˜€ A fly in the eye is always uncomfortable 😯 I can sympathise- a bee under the motorbike crash helmet isn’t pleasant either! 🐝😳

Let’s hope your next outing is less fraught and you find somewhere more flat! πŸ˜‰

All the best πŸ‘

Brilliant - well done, especially with no fuel! I’ll definitely do mine in the morning. I’ll borrow your internal dialogue when I find myself flagging. πŸ˜‰
