Manchester running shops?

Over the coming week I’m hoping to get gait analysis done and treat myself to some graduation shoes.

There is an “Up and Running” and a “Runners Need” in Manchester.

Anyone any experience of either? Or any other shop in the Manchester area to consider?

Thanks.

Hi Jay. Yes - I bought my shoes from Up and Running on Deansgate! Great service. Ran on the treadmill (didn’t feel too silly!) and a very helpful guy played back the video to me. As it happens, it seems I have a neutral gait. Brought me loads of pairs to try on and I chose the super comfiest (they also happened to be the most expensive, but hey-ho, they were a birthday present from my husband!)

They’ve been perfect from my very first run in them. Don’t want to take them off when I get home!

I think the shop gets really busy at peak times, but I was lucky enough to go on a mid-week morning, so there was only one other customer in the shop.

Good luck with your purchase!

Excellent, thanks. I’m off next week and planning to go early, mid-week (but it is half term 😱)

You should be fine if you get there early and beat the half-term crowds!!

No idea about Manc but Runners Need is starting to get a bit "chain store". I did buy my last pair there but they seemed more keen to sell than give advice. Doubt they'll get my custom again.

Good luck with the hordes!!

Thanks - Up and Running looking the champions so far.

Go for it. And the customary pic of the new tyres of course 😂

Somebody (I think it was TBAE) recommended "Up and Running" to me. Haven't tried it out yet as I had Gait analysis done around a year ago before I started this programme- then I had to give up for a while anyway. You've probably heard my story of gait analysis but I had a bad experience with Sweatshop.

There's a place near (ish) to me called "The Running Hub" it's a one-man band I think & it has been recommended to me in the past. Apparently all the running clubs round here use it. I'll prob give that a go next time. Have to justify new trainers to husband on a short fuse first though!

Tell him the splindle in your third metatarsal has a risk of rupture so you needed THESE.

Ha ha! I'll give it a try.....

Yes it was Welshwitch and Jay.

Up and Running. Nearest for me was Chester.

They are all runners.

The chap in charge of that branch was going to do the London Marathon the week I was there. He trained with thee Ron Hill.👍

Amazing care and an amazing result.Very helpful.

I am nuetral but with no cartilage in left knee for over 50 years, did not initially disclose that until treadmill and GA. Recommended my left had to be supported without prompting.👍

Cannot speak highly enough of them.

Did not even discuss discount but went out of there way to give me what they could.

Even if you cannot go to his branch , he will help you, LIAM Tel 01244345812. 25 Bridge Street Row.

Hope this helps you.👏👏

Thank you! There is one near me actually- I discovered after you recommend it. Will bear it in mind for when I do need to get new ones.

I got my analysis done at Decathlon at the big retail park just before Stockport . I’m not sure what it’s called but there’s a big B and Q there and it’s just off a large roundabout .

The 2 young lads there were brilliant , very patient and knowledgable. I ended up with Mizunos . Well worth the visit :-) xxx

Hey Jay, will be very interested to know the results of your quest in Manchester/Stockport area “home” for me was Heaton Moor, would love to know if Woodbank Park is a decent park run too.

Ha! I work at Stockport town hall. Woodbank is certainly popular, so I might well go and run it.
