Back in my hills Wk8R2

I tried getting adventurous last run, went down to town ran by the beautiful river on the flatlands amongst humans and it all went horribly wrong. So I’ve decided I’m a predictable old thing and went back into the hills around our farm and I was back on form! I love hills, strange but I really do. I loved talking to my sheep and I cooled down amongst my cows. Don’t worry I was safe they know me well, I wouldn’t ever venture into a field of cows if they didn’t know me . This lady absolutely loves half a digestive biscuit, unfortunately it had crushed in my pocket but she still licked all the crumbs from my hand. If anyone saw me they would think I was quite crazy as I started to tell them all about my run. I explained that I always find the first 5 minutes difficult then I settle and enjoy it, Sarah keeps telling me to pick up the pace if I can .. I tried and I just can’t right now, never mind I enjoyed it and I ran the full 28 minutes

I live in a city nowadays, but totally get talking to animals. Do whatever you feel comfortable with, is the best advice, isn’t it.

And judging by that photo, who’d blame you! So, well done!

I tried to go out of my comfort zone and it didn’t work as well as I had hoped but I will try again. I’m still enjoying the running though

There’s no harm in trying, but there also isn’t in being comfortable in your own environment. If it gets you running, it must be good. 🌷

Good to see you back in familiar surroundings after your venture further afield! Your cows look very happy enjoying the sun :-) Well done on the run- I haven't tried tackling hills yet. I live on a ridge so have just been running along the top of it and not dared plunge off to either side.

Ah running among green and pleasant land. Looks blissful, hills and all 👍😃🏃‍♀️

Cow eyes are gorgeous aren’t they. Look at those lashes 🙂. I talk to animals. Doesn’t everyone 😃

On that note, off to get the dog 🐕

Jullaly profile image

I know I wish I had those lashes !

They are all happy as I am too now back on my stomping ground. The cows are looking at me in funny ways 😂

I learned a cow poem when I was really little. As I recall it went ...

I’m very sorry for the cow

It’s spots seem funny any how

They never seem to fit

I wonder what is wrong with it

I dragged that back up from the depths 😁

That's what I thought too - but the programme really works. Just keep it slow and trust you will do it

😂 who would ever put running and calmness in the same sentence but yeah you are right ..I felt at home in my running shoes today

I was feeling spent at the end of mine. Two hours later I am in that warm glow of contentment. So calm.

They are lovely friendly girls and great to talk to if you need to explain how bad your run was cos they only answer you back with a lick or scratch behind the ear !

That sounds so lovely, and why would you leave those hills when you have those lovely ladies to share your cool down with.

You must be really looking forward to next week and graduation. Good luck.

I’m so happy for you and in awe of you running in those hills, nothing can stop you now. Nearly at the podium. Enjoy your last 28 minute run, you’ll not even notice the extra 2 minutes on your next runs. Go you👍

I’ve shed a few too, but doesn’t this programme do wonders to our self esteem, I haven’t felt so proud of myself for years.

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to lexi6

Its benefits other than the obvious of greater fitness that has astounded me the most . Im so much more confident even talking to people, sounds ridiculous but true

I agree, I’m even looking at buying “out there leggings” went to look at some today $100. Outrageous! May have to go an visit my sister in law in Sydney I think. Anyway enough of me, revel in your runs. Can’t wait to hear about your next run. I love your photos, what a beautiful place you live in.

i think my hand would be a little salty with the digestive biscuit considering I had just run for all that time lol

Love this post 😂

Think my wife gets fed up hearing about my runs, maybe I need to find some cows on my route!

Don’t worry about the pace. We are all different and on occasions when they have said you should be settling in to a good pace I have been coughing and spluttering trying to get one foot in front of the other!

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to gwrunner18

I am only too pleased for one foot to go in front of each other to the end never mind trying to get them to go a bit quicker

Keeping finding your needs and bringing your gems to the forum.

I bet your students are so pleased for you also.👍 Are they still monitoring your progress.🤔

No pressure then.🤔🙈😂 I could not handle that. 😂 Just as well you have your lovely cowgirls to chat to.🌟👏👏

My students are all very interested in my progress both in terms of heart rate and generally, poor things are sitting their physics GCSE as we speak

How true, everyday its different. We are incredibly remote and yet the only person I met was one other runner, he was so professional looking but very friendly

I love my girlies, they are so interested when I run past them. Mind you they have a poke around my pocket just in case I have a cheeky digestive for them. Cant believe I have 4 runs left how did that happen

Arrggh - scary cows!

Your run sounds great though and so close to graduation now 😊.

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to DebJogsOn

My cows know me well so they are not scary but I would never go into a field of cows I didn't know because that would be scary and dangerous

Thank you Hidden we have had a family bereavement and so been staying with relatives

in reply to Jullaly

I'm so sorry to hear that. We've missed you around the forum as you'll see. Please accept my condolences. Xx

I think you have to do what you enjoy/are comfortable with otherwise you won't do it. The more I work with humans the more I think I'd rather work with animals. Particularly after some wonderful lady I work with had me in tears last week because she was so nasty.

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to

Im so sorry you've had an awful time in work, its very sad when someone who obviously has their own issues to deal with takes it out on someone else, reducing you to tears. Hope you are having a better week

in reply to Jullaly

Thank you. I don't usually let it get to me but this time it really did. Much better week coz she's on holiday for two weeks! After that I'm coming to stay with you cows! 😉

Fantastic photo- it looks beautiful. I did w7r1 this morning and tried a new route (for the first time) in our village. Unfortunately both the 5 min warm up and then the run 🏃‍♂️ finished outside our local pub 🍺. Good job it was closed !! Think I’ll need to avoid this route during opening hours !! Anyhow, well done getting to w8 - not long now until Graduation 👩‍🎓 Keep the photos coming !! Keep it up!!

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to F1ipperation

Thank you, I've just posted that I haven't been able to run for a week so I think I will be joining you back in week 7. Love the idea of pub running, now thats a new sport lol

F1ipperation profile image
F1ipperationGraduate in reply to Jullaly

I’ve just seen your post was a week ago ! Sorry!! Great to hear you’ll be back running again. From what I’ve read you could still try the next run and see how it goes. You can always cut it short at 25mins if you need to. I’ve not been looking at what the runs ahead entail, so don’t know how much harder w8 is. I prefer to wait to find out on the day.

Pub running 🍺🏃‍♂️ is a great thought. Could be the new cross training exercise 🤭that people talk about 😂😂 Best wishes for your next run 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️I’m sure you’ll be fine 👍😉👌
