Failed W2R1 and still out of breath

Today I went for my W2R1 . I think I did my first 3 runs of 1.5 min little bit fast but was comfortable . By 4 Th run I was out of breath and 5th I some how managed to control after that I had give up due to breathing and chest pain. I should not have run first 3 fast ( I was 1 min faster than w1 per km time ) . Will take care of next time .

Problem is even after 2 hour of my run , I m still having little discomfort in breathing and head is banging.

I was ex smoker (quit 23 days ago ) . So little worried

I struggled with week 2. Halfway through run 1 I burst into tears at my legs hurting and not being able to breathe. I then proceeded to walk the rest and go home and cry some more.

Run 2 Just after the first 90 second run I went over on my ankle tried to carry on but ended up not finishing.

Run 3 I completed but painfully with the help of an inhaler and an ankle support.

I then decided instead of moving on to just repeat week 2 and now I’m going great! Keep at it: repeat a week if you have to! You’re still out, you’re still trying. And if you do repeat it, you’ll find the second time a whole lot easier!

Thanks , take it one run a day .. it does become doable as we go along .

Just remember the mantra Slow and steady ..

do not push yourself to run fast .. go slow and slower if possible.. let the body accustom to running 🏃‍♀️

Check in with your GP first of all. If he sees no reason not to continue keep repeating "Slow and Steady" as your four-syllable mantra. The sessions shouldn't be easy to complete, but you shouldn't be feeling this bad a couple of hours later. Slow. Right. Down. But see your GP too. (He may suggest working up to C25K via some longer walking sessions for a few weeks while your lungs settle down a bit.)

First of all, well done for kicking the weed and starting the plan! A chat with your GP is probably a good move and if there’s nothing physical to stop you, jump back in but slow down. You may think you were going slowly already but you’ve almost certainly got an even slower setting. Good luck!

Hope you managed to see your gp and get checked out? You should not be feeling discomfort in your breathing two hours after a run. Take care.
