The Longest Week but Wk6 done

This really has been a long week, 8 or 9 days to complete week 6, but I completed it this morning. I honestly can put my hand on my heart and say I may have not gone out this week at all to run if it wasn't for the people on this forum. I have learnt a valuable lesson, however difficult life gets and the problems that crop up on our way, make time for yourself and run. If you love running that is ..lol and I have learnt that I really do. It is far too easy to take the easy option and stop something because things get difficult. Now its time to go and feed these beautiful girls, not sure what they think of my new running leggings, they are giving me a funny look.

What an inspirational and honest post ❤ Have just read your post from 3 days ago Jullaly , sending you virtual hugs and a huge pat on the back for cracking on with this; it can't have been easy 😊 You're doing great 👊

Thank you, its been a tricky week emotionally the old me may have put running to one side to deal with other things but not anymore. Don't know where this determination has come from

you have been an inspiration, thank you. Ive lost weight prior to this programme but need to re focus my efforts on my diet too. I seem to concentrate on one or the other not both together!

Ah, well done you. I've just read your post about your lovely friend. She would be very proud of you. It's great that you are keeping up the running but make sure you take care of yourself emotionally too. The time you have to yourself while out running will be good for you though.

Thank you it has been a tricky week. The time outside running has given me headspace and thats been great

Very well done. You are amazing.💫🏃‍♀️💫

Your hills have no chance and they are going to reward you unbelievably with your future running choices.

Keep smiling.💫🏃‍♀️💫

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to Tbae

I'm smiling thank you tbae, I quite like the challenge of the hills, I'm planning to do one that I've avoided quite near to the farm soon, it will certainly help my running route choices once I ve got over that hurdle

Bless you. The others are right - your friend would be proud of you. I always like to think that when people close to us die they can still see us and are smiling about our antics - hope that doesn't sound too creepy! Don't want to give you nightmares on top of everything else! 😂. You've done brilliantly in the face of such adversity. Keep going now - you really are on the home stretch and a real inspiration. X

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to

Thank you .. lol its not creepy, she would be the one to give me a kick and tell me to get on it. Thanks for your help and support, it really has been appreciated. As I said somewhere the old me might have just given up because everything felt too hard but not anymore

in reply to Jullaly

Good for you! I think running does that for you - it's certainly built my confidence- I had virtually zero confidence before all this - now I'm starting to believe in myself a bit more. Onward & upward! X

Well done to you. I agree that when you’re most down or most stressed, running is the hardest thing to motivate yourself to do, but the best possible medicine. You’ve had a tough week but you still managed to run and now the end is in sight! You’ll have to start thinking about post graduation plans soon!

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to Tasha99

I will be asking you all about that!, I was wondering how you were getting on

Harsh critics, sheep. They tell it as it is. You only have to watch ‘Babe’ to understand how withering their one liners can be. Still - what do they know about chafing and the benefits of Lycra? To hell with their facial expressions (Really? You’re actually going out dressed like that???) - pat yourself on the back, take a deep breath and keep putting one foot in front of the other. Well done old bean.

PS hope you are not still glued to the IC and that you will be back out there soon :)

Outofpuff profile image
OutofpuffGraduate in reply to Jullaly

Absolutely still glued - 2nd laser treatment tomorrow and final one on Thursday- then fingers crossed I can get out again slowly at the weekend. It’s so frustrating reading about everyone else running but not being able to do it myself. Starting Pilates tomorrow to work on some core stuff in the meantime. Hope your girls are loving the weather.

Woohoo week 7!! :) Glad to hear you've stuck with it, keep it up!

"This is hard and I'm doing it anyway" and "I want to see what happens if I don't give up" are my two mantras right now! I'm also heading into week 7 and wowzers... only 9 runs left until graduation!!

Jullaly profile image

SuperMouse profile image
SuperMouseGraduate in reply to Jullaly

No I didn't! :( Feeling stupid as wore new pumps out today for a walk and now have horrendous heel blisters. Should of known better at my age! lol Now feel frustrated as my running schedule is 'out of the window' but hope to see how things are tomorrow maybe.

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to SuperMouse

Make sure the blisters are properly healed, I think we have to realise all sorts will get in the way of our schedules and we can't beat ourselves up about it, take care x

Hats off to you! She would be so very proud and pleased for you. My running was also inspired by the loss of a dear friend last October. I’m rooting for you and love to see your posts pop into my inbox!! 🤗

She was raising money for cancer research and gave me two options to bake cakes or run a 5K, Im so thankful to her for giving me the push to run, and I'm loving it.
