Is it Groundhog Day?

I’m totally stuck on a loop in week 3. I got to week 3 run 2, then couldn’t exercise as I had a mole removed, then I had a horrendous asthma week. So I repeated week 3. Felt like I was barely running 3 mins without dying so I’m doing it again this week. Just did run 2 and I’m not improving.

Any tips? I’ve slowed my speed down & upped my inhalers

I’m never going to get to week 4!!!

So to be clear, are you sustaining a running motion (however slow) through the run sections and are you sustaining a walking motion (however slow) throughout the walk sections? If so, and you've done that three times, then move on, however you *felt* about it.

Sorry you're stuck in a loop on this. Ultimately down to what the voices in your head are saying. If you want to feel as if you were in control of W3 before moving on, then I'd repeat it. If you don't move on. But ultimately this about moving at a pace that's comfy for you not just grinding out the weeks. If you try W4 and it feels rubbish, then have a go W3 again.

I sympathise with the Groundhog Day feelings tho...

I think part of it is fear as I’m always worried about having an asthma attack when I get like this. Then the fear of it makes me even more short of breath

Slow it right down. No shame in that. And don't worry if your running bits are slower than your walking bits. The biomechanics are different and it's a different activity. You'll get there! x

this programme is very clever. It takes you through carefully calibrated runs whereby your strength and stamina are gradually increasing- without you realising it. I agree with GoogleMe you have done the run, you are good to move on.

Have faith in C25K and yourself. You've got this :)

I've just finished week3 and I don't feel great about my runs, they were more like shuffles, my legs hurt, and breathing was all over the place but I'm just going to keep following the plan and would suggest you do too! Unless there is a medical reason not to just keep going.

In the past I've repeated weeks, got stuck on them and given up. As eveeyone at my group keeps telling me, just keep moving forward!!!

That's the ticket. The challenge that most of us grapple with is the physical out-of-breath panting bit. But the mental challenge of sticking with it and keeping on track with the programme is just as hard if not harder. We're all trying to build mental strength as well as physical capacity. Tough but rewarding. We can do this!!

Of course we can, we got this! I need to do this, I want to do this... I WILL do this! Keep on shuffling 😁

My legs feel fine it’s the out of breath bit and knowing the difference between being puffed & having an asthma attack
