Restless on Rest Days

Is anyone else finding they get itchy feet on rest days. What on earth has happened to me!? I’m spend much of my time at the moment looking forward to my next run and just wanting to get back out there. Four weeks ago I hated all exercise, especially running, but here I am! This programme is doing much more for me mentally than it is physically. An easy to follow challenge that I am determined to complete.

Yep, it does get you! But you can do any other form of exercise on your rest days, just not running, so you could even go for a walk - as long as you only walk, do a you tube exercise programme (I'm doing yoga for runners at the moment) or exercise DVDs. Gardening, housework all count. And of course there's loads to read about running on these forums and in magazines.

On my 'rest days' I do press ups, 100 over a 15 minute period,, 10 every 2 minutes, I have two 5k kettlebells, I do the Russian Swing for two minutes, also I do yoga to Youtube videos.

I came across a video from the Good Morning Britain team on ITV mentioning the elbow plank and how long you could keep in that position, I managed 5 minutes 41 seconds, not my record, that was 6 minutes a year ago. My daughter gave me a yoga mat so I use that, I also like to go cycling and walking a lot.

I thought you didn't like exercise 😂. Is all this exercise in the last 4 weeks. Impressive.

Hi Annie, I do like exercise, I am 71 years of age, have cycled and gone long walks since age 7 but only recently I started to do all those exercises I described above, mainly due to the fact so many people are getting overweight now in the UK and elsewhere for that matter.

I am 5'7" in height, 10st. 10lbs in weight and my latest heart rate result showed that I had a rest heart rate of 63 and BMI of 24. Yes, when it comes to running it's only in the last 4 weeks that I seriously thought that I would try the C25K training program. Tomorrow Saturday 28th April I will be doing round 2 of week 2 of C25K.

Apologies. I mistook your post for that of the original poster. I will put my glasses on in future😊. I'm in a similar position to you regarding exercise. I got the running bug over 5 years ago. Good luck with the rest of the programme. It really is brilliant.

Well... makes sure you scratch that itch with non impact exercises.. Stamina and core strength, swim, walk, climb, do Yoga or Pilates... cycle ... lots and lots to choose from, and so necessary as the longer runs arrive:)

Well done... you are hooked:)

Isn’t it weird how that happens? 5 weeks ago I’d have laughed at the mere idea of running! But I’m so into it now!
