I got out there!! Update from the IC

OK I wasn't running but I did manage 10 miles on the cycle πŸ‘πŸ˜ no trails, only lanes but it was just so glorious to be out!

Sun shining, birds singing, everything starting to bloom, flowers smelling gorgeous (fortunately I'd remembered a dose of Beconase before I headed out). A wee mouse, or vole ran across my path, a huge bumble bee bounced off my shoulder (guess bees can't see neon!🀣) a butterfly narrowly avoided colliding with my nose. The hills were almost less hard than I remembered 🀣

I got a couple of small twinges from the toe when I moved my toes but nothing to worry about.

I had a 1.5hr sports massage yesterday and my lovely lady managed to straighten me back up so hopefully no more limping and hobbling just ordinary careful walking now 🀞 week 3 on Monday and back to normal working hours too.

Feels so good to do what I CAN do even if I can't do what I WANT to. I've never done so much cardio (mostly chair based - didn't even know that existed!) Or yoga, or stretching/ floor work in all my days. Some of the routines I will keep and try to use going forwards for overall fitness.

Feels like the worst is behind me πŸ‘πŸ˜πŸ‘Š

If you were wearing neon maybe the bee mistook you for a mobile flower ;) Sounds like a lovely cycle!

My neon jacket attracted some fruit flies the other day, so I think the colours might confuse some insects πŸ˜‚

Oh so glad to hear this! :)

[whispers, remember to keep it reined in and resist temptation from the high ;) . Sorry, I say that because I'm the idiot who never has the patience for ill and makes it last longer EVER DAMN TIME because she rushes back to doing :O ]

I know but the hospital did say I could cycle and I stayed away from uneven ground. πŸ‘ I have actually done 2 little (careful) runs...but only on the spot in the safety of my kitchen. I'm trying to wait till 15th May before a real run!! I really don't want to screw up the healing!! πŸ‘πŸ˜

You are fab, JoJo! Getting out there and doing any form of exercise is great, and it will keep you all motivated for when you next get to run. Inspirational.

I am having my first sports massage this afternoon - my calves have been a bit tight since my mission to start running up hills rather than the usual avoidance tactic I employ! Hoping it doesn’t hurt too much and he sorts me wee legs out!

Sadie x

Aw the "pain" of a massage. It's sweet relief It really is. I tell my brain to process it as a tickle so the more it hurts the more I laugh. Plus the laughter makes the muscles let go faster. Try not to tense up. Just know that its going to feel tons betterπŸ‘πŸ˜

Hey GGJJ,

Thought I’d stop by and see how your doing, I remember typing it would be about May time when I first read your IC news.

Great to hear your venturing out, im sorry you can’t run yet but just think how quick the time has already passed and how little time , relatively, is left before you can again compared to what time has already passed ...

😐...

😢...

ok, yeah, that confused me too when I read it back but I’m trying to say , not long now! πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ™„

Looking forward to reading you say your back out there running πŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ πŸ’ͺ🏻

It won’t be Long now, promise πŸ‘πŸ»

πŸ‘πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£ yea I had to read it a couple of times! Yes indeed, time is passing. 4 weeks on Monday. Managed a full working week this week, plus I'm in on Sunday so progress being made on all fronts.

I've another massage booked for Wed so that will help a lot.

I managed 20 mins run on the spot. Doing Yoga/stretching almost every day plus cardio too. I'll be keeping that up right up to the 6wk point then I'll be flying out the door fitter than before!

Gonna be fab πŸ‘πŸ˜πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Unfortunately life, or more specifically death has got in the way. Lost my elderly friend, then my mother died so I will have to travel to Spain to sort all that. Still in my mind but side tracked. Never rains but it pours! I'll be back though just delayed is all. Bit frazzled atm. Could really do with a run. 🀣

Very very sorry to hear your news. I hope things go as well as they can in Spain. Too much to think about for you at the moment. But never underestimate the power of exercise for the mind. That’s why I started running just after Christmas to get me through anniversaries of people I’ve lost. But I am sending positive vibes to you πŸ™ πŸ™Œ

Hi Jojo, so sorry to hear the sad news of the loss of your mother and also that of your close friend.

What a horrible time for you. Hope everything in Spain runs as smoothly as it can, and my heart goes out to you at this difficult time.

We will all still be here, waiting to join you with your running journey as and when you are fit and able.

Take very good care of yourself, you have a lot to deal with. xxx

Loving this. Can identify with so much of it. Especially the uplifting feeling of that first cycle ride ... so good not to feel alone, but to belong to a rather exclusive (albeit not so attractive) club 🀣
