Week six, run two semi completed...

I thought the first run of week six was hard, but that one I at least finished. The run today did not go so well. Well, my knees were fine, and my legs were okay, and my breathing was okay, so I should have been good to go.

It was twenty degrees Celsius and really sunny out today and I was starting to sweat a few minutes in during the warm up (which has never happened before). From there, it was all down hill. I managed the first ten minutes okay. But the second ten minutes I only managed running for five minutes before I felt way too hot to continue. I didn't feel comfortable enough to take off my top and run in just my sports bra, but that would probably have helped. Man it's hard work!

I ran later in the day than I usually do and with the rising temperatures I might have to start bringing a water bottle with me when I go running. Does everyone else bring water bottles with them? Do you just run with them in your hand?

I haven’t taken a bottle with me so far but it’s getting warmer and I’ve not run in this warmth before. Let us know if it makes a difference to you. Good luck - you’re doing amazingly! 👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Awwe, thanks! It's hard to not feel a little bit of a failure when I can't finish a run, but if it was easy I guess I wouldn't be able to make the progress I have.

I'll try bringing a smallish water bottle with me on my next run and try running with it and get back to you on how it worked out.

Good luck to you as well!

Well done for getting to week 6! Amazing work! I have seen some bottles that you can carry, but I can’t drink and run at the same time... If you find a good water bottle please post a picture! 😀

Thank you! I'm pretty impressed by me as well :D

Hrm, I have a bottle with one of those squeeze tops (the top is from a syrup bottle, the kind that doesn't drip until you squeeze it, if you know the kind?), so I'll try that one and see if I manage to drink and run at the same time without drowning...

I'll post a picture of it if it works out.

Happy running!

I find running in the heat so much more difficult (and makes my asthma worse), I did w6 r1 at 8am yesterday to avoid the heat, but I think it's meant to cool down a bit in the next few days. As long as you stay fairly well hydrated a water bottle shouldn't be necessary for c25k.

Yes! I felt so much better when I was running in snowstorms than in the heat to be honest. I'll try to run earlier in the day, just so that I can avoid the worst of the heat. I'm forever bad at keeping hydrated, but I have been trying to be better about it.

Thanks for your input and happy running to you!
