Relax.

There is no overnight change in ability but you will see results in a very short time. You have started, that is the important thing.

I would lay money on you actually going too fast. the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... explains that you need to be jogging at a pace at which you can still ungaspingly hold a conversation. If you can't do that, you are going too fast. This pace, known a an easy conversational pace is what most runners should spend most of their time running. It will be different for each individual, but it will get faster as your fitness grows.

There is no point bowling along at a pace at which your breathing is not full and easy, otherwise you will tire rapidly.

Read the guide and trust the plan. you are in the same position as very many starters, who go on to complete the plan and then onto..........the world is your limit.

Keep us posted.

I know what you mean. I have done my 2nd run tonight and found it more difficult, thought it was just me.

In the same boat as you! Completed my 2nd run today and found it harder. HOWEVER we are all in this together and we WILL reach the end!

Well done on starting? That's the hard bit done. I had a blip with week 1 R3...maybe it's a brain thing rather than a physical one, who knows? But keep going and do what you're told when you're told. Lots of great advice in the FAQ. 👍👍👍

Just noticed the question mark, which should be an exclamation one!!

I went too fast on run 1 but slowed right down for run 2, which went better for me. I did a really slow jog.

I had read the advise before starting and didn't think I was going too fast, but R3 I will make conscience effort to slow down...thanks all

Yes it does get easier. Try not to look ahead ( at the running plan, not the road!!!!)

If you are struggling listen to IannodaTruffe and Oldfloss and go SLOWER, it's always possible to do slower.

That way you should be able to complete the run, take your rest day, and move on to the next.🤗

It does get better - In weeks 1-3 I ached all over, gasped for breath and worried that I'd never make the step up in the next week. Weeks 4-6 were wonder weeks when I was amazed suddenly at what I could do and weeks 7-9 were then more of a mental challenge as the longer runs came along.

You can do this - just trust the programme and go steady.
