Wk9 R1...30mins running βœ…πŸ˜

I was struggling to get out today as busy with family things being Easter Sunday. So whilst my husband and son settled down this afternoon to watch the football, I quickly got my running gear on and headed out.

Surprisingly I didn’t feel nervous about the run today after Wk8’s 28min runs. I think it’s amazing how the programme not only physically prepares you for the longer runs but mentally too 😊

Wk9 R1 was enjoyable, slow and steady and I ran with a big cheesy grin on my face as I still can’t quite believe I’m out there running.

Happy Easter everyone and happy running! πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

How lovely! Well done, Melo! And you are right, the way this programme works is on both the physical and the mental level. Glad you are enjoying being out there and running!

I did Week 9 Run 1 today too...30 minutes and I didn’t stop (in fact could have gone for longer!) I’m already planning what route to do for run 2 and have just printed a 5k to 10k plan off... well done us and hope you are eating lots of chocolate tonight! x

Fantastic! Well done to you too πŸ‘πŸ‘ that’s great you’ve already printed off your 5k to 10k plan. I’m going to join a running group with a friend for one night a week and hoping to get a few park runs under my belt once I graduate πŸ˜‰

See you on that podium soon x

Congratulations Melo, the next time you do a run, while your son and husband are watching "The football" switch OFF the telly and get them to come with you. Start them at week one and eventually in 9 weeks you will all be running a 5k as a family.

Melo_smiles profile image
Melo_smilesGraduate in reply to AlMorr

Managed to get my husband on the plan and he’s at Wk 7 πŸ˜‰ my sons just turned 7 so he struggles with the longer runs but loves the junior park run when he doesn’t have a football match to play.

We’ve definitely become a running family, love what C25K has done for us all 😁

Thank you for your reply 'Melo' yes it's nice to see you ALL getting out and doing a run and not watching TV all the time, near to where I live there are 1k runs for children in Primary School

Well done to you. I too did my week 9 R1on Sunday Morning. Managed 5.1k and had the biggest smile on my face! I cant believe that I’ve done it.

Weeks 1 to 4 I hated running. However, once I’d conquered the longer runs in week 5 and beyond I now really enjoy it. I’m definitely going to continue as I feel much better and weigh less. So much so that I’ve promised myself that I’ll do an official 10k run/race in the autumn.

My message to anyone struggling atm is to keep at it as it’s worth it.

Melo_smiles profile image
Melo_smilesGraduate in reply to Richardcam

I was exactly the same and the longer runs have really helped. Wow 5.1k is amazing, well done πŸ‘ I managed 4.7k including my 5min warm up walk and cool down but only 3.8k during the 30min run....I’m definitely slow and steady πŸ˜†

Good luck with your last 2 runs and see you on the podium very soon!

Richardcam profile image
Richardcam

5.1k according to my gps app. On my last 28 minute run I only managed 4.2k so it should perhaps come with a heath warning. Anyway speed and distance isn’t important at this point. It’s all about putting the minutes in. Good luck to you too

Brilliant!! Good for you on coming so far & wear that cheesy grin with pride...I often have a cheesy grin when I’m running...& sometimes I sing out loud without realising....that’s the joy that is running!!! πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I did my W9R1 yesterday, and given that twice had to give up on the first 20 minute run I am amazed at myself :) My run was exactly 2 miles, according to Strava - now have to work on the speed.

W9R2 on Wednesday, graduate (hopefully) on Friday
