Nearly 3 mins slower?!

Ran for 25 mins in ParkRun this week but was nearly 3 mins slower than last week when I only did 20 mins. Would driving wind and rain slow you down this much or have I messed up my pace?

Also after I ran through the finish line and got my bar code I chatted with my friend before getting my barcodes scanned. Would this mess up my time?

Edit - just got a message saying the times are wrong due to an error at the finish line. Phew!

Well done on the run!

It doesnt matter when you get the token and barcode scanned, as long as you pick up the token when you finish the run. The token number is then aligned to a finish position ( a couple of those people cheering you over the line will have timers which they click as you finish and give you a position ), and is then also aligned to your barcode.

Yes wind and rain may slow you down, as will a mulititude of things. (Including errors on the finish line.......sometimes people go into the funnel but then dont pick up the token....doh!). But as you are still extending your run times its good to slow your pace to ensure you finish. Time is not important at this stage in the programme.

See edit in my post - PHEW! Yes the weather was a challenge today. Feeling better now I know they messed up. Was expecting a minute slower but not that much!

My favourite volunteer role is time keeper , so many happy people 😀👍🏼

After today I wouldn’t want to be the one who messed that up! I’ll go and be a marker when I volunteer I think 😂

You do have to be on the ball, but there are two time keepers in case, so they rarely get it wrong. If someone runs through the funnel but does not pick up a token however it throws all of the following times out, there are regular checks but if a few minutes go by and quite a few people finish it can be difficult for the volunteer team to establish exactly when the error occured.

Those volunteers all do a brilliant job.

They do. Apparently barcodes got stuck together in the rain 😱

Ahhh tokens? In which case they will be able to track more easily.

I see your edit but for me the time doesn’t matter as long as I enjoy it. I know I’m never going to be fast but 7 months ago I couldn’t run for 30 seconds!

I hope you enjoyed your run despite the weather 👍
