Congratulations to all who have graduated!! Job well done 🖒

As the heading states 2 more runs to go and im getting excited! Although im working in mph and on the treadmill. I know I can feel a lot of you guys and gals cringing at me.

I've been a bit shy of "running" outside. But as said before need to get myself out there. Infact I can feel the urge coming on and trying to plan a route 😊

I know im going to be a fair bit slower when I move outside but il just have to deal with it.

Also my last run (if I may call it running) was ok but dissapointed with myself. Although im putting a lot of effort in im still not very fast.

I know you say speed is not the thing and it will come. But I just wish I could make the 5k in 30 mins. Im managing 2.9 mile in the 30 minutes 😔 at that im sweating and could only utter a few words. Ive still got about 10 pounds to loose and im 56.

Should I try and push a bit harder?

Hey - well done. You're nearly there. Running on a treadmill is just as good as running outside, so no problems there! 2.9 miles in 30 minutes is 4.8K - which is fantastic. I graduated today and I am doing 3.5k in 30 minutes running outside - so I guess that is quite pathetic according to your standard?

Whatever, I don't think that speed matters at this stage. It's about building stamina and running legs. Good luck with the rest of the runs, and happy running. x 😀👍

You'll be great - you don't need to push any harder than you are now. You're doing so well! And you should be proud xx

Nope please don’t try and push too hard at this stage there’s only about 10% of us manage the ‘unicorn’ like 5k in 30 minutes. In fact this week I’ve just done my second one and that’s 7 months after graduation.

At this stage you’re still building up stamina and in fact its the ‘slow’ running that is ‘cool running’ - this is the foundation work, and once you’ve got the distance under your belt you can look at the interval training.

I found it incredibly frustrating that I couldn’t run farther and faster, of course now I realise that I was trying to achieve two different things.

There’s quite a bit of debate on here about the fact that the plan should really be called Couchto30, rather than 5K, because it’s really all about you running for 30 minutes and only some of us can do the 5k in the 30 minutes.

Please don’t be disappointed in yourself, you’re doing fab. Happy running in graduation week

Aww thank you so much 😊 I just hope I can get stamina and speed. Im quite short so I dont know if I will ever be very speedy 🤣 im 5ft 1 if I stand tall 😂 so maybe im doomed to run slow. But who knows il give it my best shot. I want to stay fit as possible as I never want another stroke.

No... pushing is not necessary. The distance and speed will come... you run, comfortably and enjoyably... for the 30 minutes needed :)

I can run 7K in 23 minutes on my cross trainer... nowhere near that outside.... but, it is such terrific fun... does the speed or time bother me.. not a jot... it is all about running :)

Be proud of what you are doing and let the running evolve :)

Thank you, as I said was dissapointed with myself thinking I must not be putting enough effort in although I feel I am doing my best. I want to be good enough to run a half marathon with my son in august (trial run) then hopefully do the Cardiff half marathon in October. Am I living in fairyland? 🤔

"Dream it... do it" .... but, it will take time and real commitment...and a steady slow supported build up.. do this... and then we will move onto what is next :) We will be right here to help :)
