Pace is such a weird thing

Ok am now in week 9, unbelievably, and did W9R1 as a parkrun on Saturday (my third, and the first one done with my daughter, who got me into all this, such a special moment as she greeted me at the finish funnel). I had totally forgotten Laura's 'just slow down' bit of advice and felt really, really tired at various points, only to discover via my timing from parkrun that I must have unwittingly upped the pace by some margin...now planning to keep W9R2 slower and steady and then graduate on Easter Saturday parkrun, whoop!

Isn't parkrun magic? Where else do you see so many happy people?

Agreed - when I think my pace is rubbish it often is better than I imagined and vice versa.

Enjoy the park runs - its a greta movement and happy upcoming graduation. Well done you

Thank you. I didn't feel I hit a settled pace on Saturday at all, but as you say, your own view can be distorted. Which is why it's so weird!

Well done. You are doing great.Early days, but you will know speed or pace = your steps per minute x your stride length .🤔

You can see woman of steel 🤔😂, that is how you probably pleasantly surprise yourself.🤔 Any little increase to one or both of these will influence your pace.

Patience, you are ready to graduate and also decide on building pace and distance with time.🤔🌟👏👏

Meantime slow and steady is the comfortable place to be.🌟👏👏

I love ParkRuns! Just did my 5th. Thing is, the atmosphere can carry you on and you can go too fast so I really concentrate on telling myself to keep slowing down. Well done though. I dream of completing week 8. Just starting week 6 tonight.

Good luck with your progression, you're not that far off!

Pacing is, in my opinion, the single most difficult skill for a runner to master, so an awareness is half the battle.

I'll be working on that awareness!
