Week one completed 😊

Apprehensive and feeling very self conscious I set out last week to the gym to start couch to 5k. I am pleased to have completed week one. I am currently faced with some health problems after surgery in December and am at the heaviest I have ever been. I am hoping that starting to run will help me lose some pounds and help me gain back some self esteem.

Ps: why does everyone in the gym look like a stick and I feel like a ball πŸ€”

Try not to engrossed in the present, instead visualise the new future you!!! Everybody starts somewhere, I’ve recently lost 5 stone through Slimming World and C25k. I too felt extremely conscious about how others viewed me, but now I couldn’t care less. I know where my journey started and I know where I want my journey to end and that’s all that matters!!

Thanks. I used to go to weight watchers but after β€œX” amount of weeks of success I would fall off the wagon so I have ditched them and joined the gym and and also watching what I eat (not literally!)

I am determined to succeed πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I have just lost 4 and a half stone on slimming world (and still going down) on week 5 at the moment. Like biguft look to the future and the runs do get slightly easier :)

Great advise from biguft.

Be kind to yourself also.

Give yourself time. You are building a running body and a running brain on the C25k programme. It is strictly not a weight loss programme but it obviously supports that with the exercise part.

There is a sister community and indeed every other community imaginable.🌟

Be aware of your body changes if you are doing both, building and loosing.

You cannot get ahead of it, your body needs time to repair and catch up.

Personally I would get a body resting calorie count, they will do it for you if they have the gear only takes a few minutes.

You will understand where you are at now and what you need to do going forward.

Drink plenty of water for both C25k and your weight loss.

Basically you are generating the weekly calorie deficit on both sides of the equation , Cals in and Cals out. The running is only contributing 1000 Cals per week and that is not enough to lose 2lb per week. More like 3000 needed of 14000cals in.

Remember you get hydration from your food ,so starving yourself will not totally cut it either.

I am pleased you are here and your belief is great, you will realise it with the amazing support from this forum.πŸŒŸπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Apprehension, self esteem, the one will be gone forever, the other you will have in abundance , life changing and you will love the forum and more importantly yourself, that’s a promise.πŸŒŸπŸ‘πŸ‘

Welcome to the forum.

You have made a wise decision. This plan builds you physically but the mental impact of exercise is hugely underestimated by those who have not witnessed the power of endorphins. You will soon not care what others think as your self esteem will build and you will be proud of yourself and your achievements.

This guide to the plan is full of tips healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome to the forum and C25K. Congratulations on completing W1 (probably the toughest mentally to do) it’s true, you will soon start looking forward to the runs, if only for the great feeling you get afterwards.

Read all the advice offered and make sure you take your rest days (so important) and take each run very slowly. Good luck with SW, and do keep posting, we love to hear how you’re doing.

Good luck! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ
