W6R1 - Not feeling great

After the 20 minute run in week 5 I had taken it for granted this would be easy peasy! instead I found it about the same difficulty? I think because i'd done a 20 minute run going back to 3 minute walk breaks after a 5 minute run felt a bit beneath me subconciously? actually felt like stopping and doing it again another time for the first time in my C25K journey.

The 8 minutes were real tough but the only reason I can think of is I must have been running too fast - I run up and down the same lane in a park near me and there was a fella walking his dog up and down the lane over and over so OF COURSE I had to pass him each time (I know I shouldn't try to!)

Hamstring was sort of sore after doing a bit of embarassing shadow kickboxing in the house and doing myself an injury! but this didn't affect my running (I think I only feel strain on those muscles when running downhill) but as I did my post-run stretches I've hurt it even worse, got a hot bath when I got in which seems to have helped

Was knackered by the end of the run. Think I didn't like this run as there was no reward from running 5 minutes after running 20 minutes not 3 days previously. Looking forward to the next 2 runs of this week though

Lots of people feel the same about this run...Wk 6 is there for a reason though so treat it with respect and positivity. Its not easier than Wk 5, just a normal natural progression in the program.

Good luck with W6 R2, no shadow kick boxing beforehand and no sprinting 😉xx

You could ice and elevate your leg a few times when you get chance. (Bag of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel)...

It is your longest workout to date.

Brisk walking uses energy.........almost as much as a gentle jog.

I always try to warn people about this run

Well done, you did it. Show every run respect.

Sorry for laughing but I had this image of you shadow boxing in the house and tweaking your hamstring and having to flop down on the couch, which is probably where you started 😁

Slow down a bit, Rome wasn't built in a day. Week six is a git! So go careful, and no grandstanding in the Park 😃💪👍🏃‍♂️

Its a bugger that one! You're so right... it feels beneath us cause we can and have done better right!? 🤣

Don't worry, the next two will go better.

I'm sure it's in there to teach us humility! 👍😁

Yeah, those C25K twins, audacity and humility, we need them both!

As Bluebirdrunner says it catches a few folk out... just move on slow and steady... each run following the one before...

You are doing brilliantly :)

This is a really common response to this run- it catches a lot of people out on the endurance/enjoyment factor.

I hope the hamstring doesn’t prove to be more than a slight pull- please be careful until healed, it would be so sad if you ended up on the IC when you’re just getting to the best bits - do take care 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
