Ever decreasing circles

Yesterday I ran my 8K Run on Ju-Jus 10k plan. I was running away from home and whilst I know the area I do not know it well. Therefore as usual I hatched a plan.

I had downloaded an app called RunGo some weeks back for just such instances and prepared a route that would encircle the area that I knew with one big loop and 2 smaller ones. With the weather as it was the plan was to not go too far from “home”.

Whilst a bitterly cold run with both wind and snow the app was great barking turn left/right in good time over the quietened music so I knew where I was heading at all times. Only issue I had was that the app disagreed on the distance by about 250m over 8k compared with my watch. No problem - just ran on for a bit longer.

The run itself was good to get done and am pleased that Ju-Ju included a number of repeat runs the same distance in the plan allowing a sense of improvement I hope. Fingers crossed that the repeat run this weekend will be a bit warmer and less windy!!

Aren't you a bit old to be running away from home?

It will be so nice when that wind goes back to whence it came!! 👍

My own route is very similar with loops within loops. I'm going to try and go further afield soon though. It's annoying when tech disagrees with each other. It's hard to know which one is more accurate.

Good run 👍😁

Thanks - there are two approaches - go for the one you like the best!! Or go for consistency!! I trust my watch and use that for consistency!! But would have loved the extra 1/4K rest!! It was more annoying as I thought I had planned my route so well!!

Am cheered by blue sky and positive temperature here this morning! Am in Cornwall for Easter and had envisaged lovely runs beside rugged coastlines - am now just hoping the snow has gone!
