Anyone want to come to Gloucester?

I've been given lots of fab advice and support following my last post so here I am taking some. Is there anyone local-ish to Gloucester who would like to meet up for the park runs around here? I am north of Gloucester towards Ross-On-Wye but my nearest park run I believe is in the city. Or, likewise, if anyone is a short car trip away from me, I am happy to travel. I haven't done a park run before and my confidence in everything is in tatters so it might be nice to have someone from C25K to debut with?

What amazing initiative.🌟

I wish I could join you.🙈

50 years younger and baggage free I would be there to enjoy it with you.🙈😂😂

But you would be finished before I made it to the start.😂😂

And you can already do it twice in an hour. WOW.🌟👏👏🙈😴

Up and at it.👍👏👏🌟

Enjoy.👏👏🌟

Great idea, but unfortunately too far away for me. If nobody takes you up on this, I'm sure you'll do just fine and way better than you expected. Remember that these are open to all abilities and you even see people jogging around pushing their kids in buggies :)

Good on you!

Am thinking that you could contact the support of the Parkrun in particular, and explain your situation, perhaps they will be able to help.

At Parkrun you can virtually do it how you like, run or walk, remember your never last, the tailwalker is..😊

I'm over in cambridgeshire so a bit far away. Anyways I thought that neck of the woods was underwater typically this time of year :) . Last time I want to gloucester it was a bit soggy hehe, I remember Tewkesbury being nice albeit also very damp lol. I'm sure you'll find some peeps closer by, but you will always have an internet cheer squad regardless :)

Parkrun is fab and it’s just a load of like-minded peeps moving en masse 😁

Not just running, but getting round in whatever way they can. Disabled, less abled, injured, blind, folks with poles, zimmers, sticks, crutches, pushchairs. All are made equally welcome. There is usually tea and food available and all you need to do is pitch up with your bar code having registered. There is always a little pre-start chat with new folk to the course. Very informal and friendly.

Don’t hesitate, just do it 😃👍

What a fantastic offer. I’m thinking of doing a Parkrun (at some stage 😉) unfortunately it’s a little too far away for me. I think you should go for it though. I hear it’s a great way to meet new people.

Let us know what you decide. 😀

Likewise if you are ever in Croydon there's a parkrun and a cup of tea at the very least on offer.

We have confidence in you :)

You were asking about running clubs last time - is this one any good for you? monross-trailblazers.co.uk/...

If I still lived in the Forest of Dean I'd have been happy to meet up but I now live in France! Would the park run in the Forest be any closer for you?

Park runs are there for all abilities running or walking.

I went for my first one alone and felt really apprehensive but there is always a briefing for newbie to PR or the course. There were ca few other new people and they chatted as we walked to the start.

You are given the same support and cheers from the volunteers and supporters and my experience locally (Norfolk) has always been great and I have tried 4 different PRs.

I think most PRs have a Facebook page so you may be able to ask about your local Ines. They definitely have a website which gives all routes so I chose one that was mostly flatfor my first one.

They are not races so you just do your own thing. I love them. 👍

Just to let you know a couple of people might be dropping by to see if they can join you at Parkrun. Fingers crossed :)

I regularly attend the Kingsway (Quedgeley) parkrun, which is very near Gloucester. It is just a short distance from junction 12 of the M5. I would be happy to arrange to meet you there if you want. Or Gloucester City if you prefer, but that is not so easy to locate and it is a 5 lap course.

Running together would probably wouldn't be an option for you as I am very much a plodder and it will take me around 40 minutes.

As you probably don't know me, your message was posted on facebook on the Beyond C25k group, but I used to use this forum (a lot!) before and after graduating nearly 5 years ago.

Let me know what you think.

I work in Waterwells so I know Kingsway! I may well take you up on that at some point, thank you

Bit late on the reply. I'm in Leamington spa. I'll nip glocs for a park run.

I walked my first ParkRun. All abilities go. Just sign up and go. The most wonderful, supportive people go. It’s heart-warming. I’m too far from you unfortunately. I’m still not running the whole think - not even close - yet. I tend to do the 3rd run of the week inside the ParkRun.
