A run along Hunstanton promenade

2nd post grad run, still doing 30 minutes and getting to around 3.8km, I want to slowly increase to 5k, so I was thinking I’d add on a minute each time I run now until I get there? Is that a sensible way to do it? I’ve read on here about the 10% rule before so hope this is ok because I wouldn’t be adding on more than 10% per week, and I don’t want to increase it by much more and find myself struggling. Happy running from a sunny Hunstanton 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

That's how I did it! I think it took me around 3 weeks to get up to 5k after graduation, I did it proper slow and steady. If you run nice and slowly, and still feel you have some fuel in the tank, then no harm in adding on an extra minute or two of running I'd say. (But I am not an expert!)

Happy running, Liz!

Yeah a tiny bit at a time, taking care to go slow and steady. We get further before we get faster. Our running legs get built by those slow runs and rest days

Fun being able to run along the prom 👍💪🏃‍♀️🙂

Sensible Liz, though you can safely add on 5mins if you’re up for it, especially if you’re still running 3 times a week, in which case add the time to one run 😊

Good luck, you’ll be OK 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Great plan the 10% rule is such a useful one to keep us from over-stretching. And you’d be surprised how quickly you actually reach the 5k.

Happy running

Sounds like you're doing really well, and being very sensible about getting to the 5K. Good luck with the running! I'm currently running just under 3K in 25 minutes, so a long way to go! 😀
