Enforced rest - hate it 😩

Missing you guys! It would seem I have a broken a bone in my foot and no running now for the past 3 weeks and it’s torture! Walking is slowly improving but the enforced rest is driving me crazy 😝I think it’s going to need a few more weeks before I can start to ease back in. Any advice on how best to get back ‘on the road’ ?

Oh No Suesky17 ? That’s proper bad luck...how did you manage that??? Frustration is an understatement eh??!! I’m no expert but take it steady, don’t try & rush recovery as you might find yourself back on the IC in no time...gently does it when you do get back on it with short, light jogs...chin up, we’re wishing you well x

Thankyou so much. Stupidly I managed to seriously stub my left 2nd toe on the corner of the bed not once but 3 times in as many days !!! I’m sure you can imagine the rest....soooo painful. I’m giving all corners a wide berth from now on 😬😬

Looked up a suggestion for “aqua jogging”. Anyway you have an indoor pool nearby that you can use for a month?

Wow that’s a great idea, I’ll look into that for sure. Thanks Missa82 🙂

It was a hidden option when I googled it certain foot fractures could still cycle. Doc answered,”why not aqua jog?” My mind was BLOWN. Like- why NOT aqua jog?!? Why didn’t I think of that?!?!

Sorry to hear about that! Is it your toe that is broken? If it is, I found when I had my middle toe broken in three pieces that when I strapped it to the other toes, it didn't hurt at least for walking. As for getting back into the groove ;-), aquajogging is a very good suggestion (I'm terrible at it though). Any swimming as well as any aquafitness as long as you don't have to stamp on the swimming-pool floor... Take care!

Tx Anthie. Swimming for sure but I’ll def be kicking off with only my right foot for now. Your injury sounds awful - ouch.

It was very painful when it happened (managed to squeeze my foot under a university building entrance door on pulling it, wearing... ballerinas), had to get a taxi back home after my class. But after I found out I could strap it to the other toes, no problem but I didn't try running as, at the time, I was quite unable to do so even with no broken bones! It healed in a month. If it's one of your foot bone, it's more difficult to get rid of the pain: you just have to be patient... And any exercise you can do lying on your back can help you wait for better times (yoga, pilates, stretching...).

Oh Skysue I am sorry - and I really sympathise because I haven't been able to run for several weeks either, thanks to a chest infection that will not go away. Big hug winging to you! Certainly check with your doctor about when restarting running is ok. Meanwhile can you do some Pilates or yoga to aid fitness? I know you would not be able to do all of the exercises, but some of them might be better than none at all. There will be suggestions online.

Take care, you will run again soon. Xx

Tx Elfe5 and sorry to hear you too are on the bench. Hope it soon clears; the bugs this winter seem to have been more tenacious than previous years. I’m just getting over a stinker of a cold which has also kept me out of my yoga class. Will be back though next week. Honestly - roll in summer 🙄🙄 😁

You know what I will say... Slow and steady :)

But.. upper body exercises...swimming..:) Running retail therapy helps the mind too:)

As we are not medical experts.. it depends on the severity of the break and the location.. ( uses, i know it is in your foot :))

Maybe you may need expert advice on a time frame... ( Sports Physio?)

Poor you, here’s hoping its not too long before you are back hitting those trails.
