W6R1 - champing at the bit!

I know I'm not alone in having had to endure a forced absence from running due to the ice and snow. It was all gone this morning so I was keen to get out after a gap of 6 days to attempt the first run of Week 6.

Well, it wasn't the piece of......cake.... that I thought it was going to be (I know, we were warned!). Went off too fast, over-confident. Soon realised I'd have to slow down a bit and found the middle 8 minutes tough, but still managed to complete the run. Woo and a little bit hoo!

Back on track!

Hey you finished it, that’s the main thing. And soon there will be no walking breaks and that’s when you really learn how to pace yourself. (I’m finding that out now) I keep feeling I’m starting slowly but I’m not! Then suffer for it!🤣🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Thanks! The thought of the "no walking breaks" runs is making me nervous - though I suppose I do have the 20 minute run from Week 5 to fall back on. I did that one very slowly! x

Slow is great..let the legs do what they are just beginning to do... :)

You’re supposed to be running slowly! You can speed up further down the line when you have built your legs

It will all come together if you take your time

Good luck with week six. Have fun out there 👍🙂

I know - what an eejit! Thanks for the advice - I will take it slowly as I know I won't stay the course otherwise.

Happy running. x

Oh you must, you must 😁👍

Well done this was my nemesis run. So easy to get it wrong, but you did it. All power to your feet for the rest of the week

Well done you... excitement at being out is wonderful!

Slow and steady as you go and simply relax into these longer runs... let your legs find what I call, their happy pace..they know what to do.. just let them :)

Thank you and yes, I shall heed your advice. Not exactly sure what you mean by letting my legs find their happy pace. However, when I started to run this morning it felt the most natural thing in the world, and I can honestly say that before I started C25K I would have said that running was an unnatural activity for me - something I wasn't suited for. So that tells me that I've come a long way since the start!

Thanks again for all your encouragement. 😀

👏👏👏💪👍

That's it, adjust the pace as you go.

You'll need that later with the longer ones. Every lesson is there for a reason 😉

Well done 😁
