Mind over matter & self belief

Just in from completing W5 R3

I have to say it feels like an achievement considering when I started this I did not imagine this day would come

But it has and for me I must say that it has helped me immensely with a better belief in myself and what I can achieve through determination and mind set.

As someone who has suffered from anxiety and extreme lack of self confidence and belief this has definitely shown me that I am stronger than I think.

Thanks to everyone on here for the posts and encouragement and inspiration, it really has helped get me to this point and I’m looking forward to the next stage of the journey!

Really well done Mo98. As well as teaching you to run the programme also teaches you that you are capable of more than you think. Over the months that I have been dropping by I have been amazed the extent to which people report improvements in anxiety and depression just by running. I guess it helps to change the way one thinks about things. Enjoy week 6 :)

very, very well done... keep it slow and steady as you head into the lovely longer runs:)

You and so may other W5 R3ers are proof of how far you can go if you believe in your abilities and do it.

Well done you - I'm a bit behind you - just done W5R1. I am also realising the benefits of this programme mentally as well as physically, which has surprised me.

Basically, working on the programme so far has made me feel a lot more positive about things generally. I don't have a lot of confidence and am very pessimistic, so I have surpised myself so far - sounds like you have too!

Hope the running continues to go well. x

The only thing stopping me from doing the C25k earlier was my anxiety of leaving the front door on my own even though I had the App on my phone 18 months ago.

I saw a local running club in my area offering this course at my local gym/track in January and I jumped at the chance of training with a group. I’m so glad I did not only have I got a group to train with I’ve made new friends 😀

I’ve got my confidence back and even do some of the runs on my own... I’ll be doing my W5, R3 tomorrow!

It is just mind over matter and like you I’ve enjoying every achievement.

Good luck with the rest of your running 👍

You did it 👍🏻 Mo98 you did it

Fantastic feeling isn't it ?

I also lack confidence , I come across as self confidence and full of myself which is far from the real me .

I am lonely and very self conscious , running is now my escape from the real world of been alone

You're on a programme that will help you now, allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and admit these things is the hardest part. There are always more people around us willing to help if we just let them in.

Loneliness is awful. Is there a Parkrun near you that you can look forward to joining? Or a local running club?

Good luck on your journey, both running and self discovery 💜

Well done. It really does help you mentally and physically. I completed this last Sunday and haven’t been able to start W6 yet. Am chomping at the bit to get back out there. It’s really helping my self esteem issues.

Have run in drizzle, hail, even snow. Just children and work the only ‘obstacles’.

Fantastic; well done and congratulations at getting over the W5 and the mental hurdle 👍🌟🌟🌟

It's so true, if we just trust and believe in ourselves a little bit more we can do almost anything.

Snap; depression, anxiety and low self esteem have plagued me for years. Whenever I was told of the benefits of exercise, I immediately dismissed the idea, but after years of therapies I'm happy to say exercise really is a useful and effective tool to have in the box. 👍

Give yourself a pat on the back, you're doing great 😁
