Week 5 Run 2 - should I do Run 3 or repeat?

Hi all, loving this programme, I did 2 x 8 mins on Monday, needed two little stops of about 10 seconds in each one, would you consider this a pass?! I am due to do the 20 mins tonight which i am happy to tackle but wonder if I should repeat run 2 until I don't stop at all?

Has anyone else done this? Moved on to the next one even though little pauses were needed in the run before?

Thanks! X

Hi BooRunner

Go for it. It sounds like its mind over matter rather than capability. Everyone struggles with that voice in your head telling you to stop but keep going, slow down a little and while your running keep thinking how great your going to feel when you achieve it. :)

Thank you, eek!

Run 3 is all about not stopping at all so if you do it you won't have that annoying voice in your head going "when do we stop? Surely that's 8 minutes by now...has the app stopped?"

You don't need to stop as long as you conserve your energy...I run in a park so if I need to slow down I focus on someone walking up ahead some and see how long I can avoid overtaking them.

Ha! That's so true, "are we there yet?" !! I do have to remember to slow down, thank you, quite excited!

Hi BioRunner, if you start your run slowly and stay slow there should be no need to stop, you will have enough energy to do the interval...Bazza has written a post about this today...

You are building stamina and each run is building on the last. Going slowly is the way forward now the run intervals are getting longer, you will be able to work on speeding up naturally once you have graduated...😊xx

Thank you Jan! I have now made myself a playlist of 20minutes so have to hope I don't use valuable oxygen singing along :) X

My view is that this is not a tick box exercise but training your body to overcome certain mental and physical challenges. I know that I wanted to complete each run to my own satisfaction and that each run, including any repeats, is training for the next one.

Nobody is checking up on you , so the choice is yours.
