People look at my baldy bounce and think I have no hair whereas actually, I am a mophead: the only reason I shave it off is so I don't have to endure all this gossip in hairdressers. ;)

What, even if it’s about running and Garmins? 😳

Daren't talk about the possibility of Garmins being among us around here: they'll be breaking out the pitch forks and manning the pill- boxes again.

Are there any continuously downhill courses? I have a car and I'm willing to travel.

in reply to seaspaniel

Alas, i dont drive so am stuck wiv dem hills, but you could drive to the top, run down, walk back up, repeat with the next hill 😊

Downhill all the way circuits are a bit like lakes with slopes for water skiiers?

Seriously though, if you're able to get to Llanberis in Snowdonia you can take the bus up to Pen y Pass (Snowdon car park for Crib Goch scramble) then run all the way back down to Llanberis (6 miles all downhill)...

knackering your legs in the process!!

Yes! The Tissington HM in Derbyshire :D It's billed as the only downhill half in the UK. It isn't quite downhill all the way, but the profile is mostly downwards. That's why I chose it for my first :D :D :D

I always think running is running, which is always good wherever it is....

in reply to ju-ju-

Well, quite, not that i have a choice, but actually I enjoy the hills now, they are a diminishing challenge :)

Erm... I live in Derbyshire, and for the first three years of running I avoided hills :D Quite an achievement in this county!

Well, there are some flat bits! Quite often they are the boring bits though :D Or you have to get on a bus or drive to get to them. I have embraced the hills now and life is a lot more 'interesting' - and full of curses.

You are the queen of hills Annie!

I live on the border of Staffordshire/ Derbyshire. There are few flat places around unless I take a drive, which is not always convenient. Plus running along the remote riverside early morning is a bit scary! It is a flood plain so floods quite regularly too.

So right from the start I embraced hills. It means you can run any route. Once you overcome the pyscological aspect of ‘it’s a hill’, hills become routine.

Don’t be fooled about downhill running, its hard on the knees and calves etc, you should train downhill as well as uphill running.

in reply to Millsie-J

I have to do both here. and, you're right, it gets easier.

I have a regular 5k very hilly circular route I use regularly (when fully fit). For every big up hill there is a corresponding down of course......so gps on MMR thinks it a 12 foot climb overall .......in your dreams MMR.

in reply to Millsie-J

yes, the downhill bits give you a break. But really the uphill bits seem a lot less of a slog. you just have to settle into them. It's only happened for me the last couple of runs. Before that I didn't enjoy the steep uphill bits.
