I'm an Aylesbury girl, but was visiting my Stepmum in Reading over the weekend and wanted to get another post-grad consolidation run in. There are two Parkruns near to my Stepmum's, one had been moved the previous weekend, so I bit the bullet and popped along to the Woodley run. I was a bit nervous as I have not run one without my Stepdad with me, and he keeps me going and helps me set my pace. My nerves soon went after a lovely welcome by two of the marshals I chatted to, and off I went. The course was REALLY muddy in places, not something I've encountered before, and I felt the difference in my legs, they tired more quickly than I've experienced before. So I did need to walk a couple of times, but not for long each time, and I finished it in 35:58. The highlight for me, was the tailwalker yelling "Come on Aylesbury!" as I passed her on my final lap. I'll definitely be going there again, and that's me even more hooked on this wonderfully organised event! I'm so glad I registered for Parkrun, it's such a lovely community, no judgements in performance, just pure running friendliness, and knowing that there is somewhere to run in a safe environment away from home is just brilliant! Love, love, LOVE running! β€ π
