Off I went along the prom enjoying sunshine, blue sea, seal, eider duck, sanderling, oystercatchers, plovers...

... oh dear and zero energy & chest pain ( how dare that pop up unexpectedly!) Oh bother, not as post lurgy as I thought. I was very good, went home to exercise the patience muscle some more. The cat greeted me enthusiastically and dried his muddy garden paws on my leggings by trampling & purring on my lap - at least I look as if I had a run now!! ๐Ÿ˜

Purr-fectly sensible... you tried... and you went home when the body told you to:)

The run, and it sounds wonderful, will be there when you are feeling better :)

Sorry to hear you werent 100%. Hope you are better soon.

Eider ducks? I thought those were native to Iceland. They are supposed to be the only birds whose feathers are harvested painlessly, as they shed them in quantity so no need for hand plucking. I would love to see some.

We have a good number of eider ducks around our coastline - but more common further north than you live I think. They are also found throughout the Arctic Circle according to my RSPB book. The largest groups I have seen have been on the west coast of Scotland where my Mum lived - sometimes I would see rafts of 50 or more birds. They used to gather the chicks into groups and babysit for one another! Oh dear, I am filling up this running forum with one of my other passions! Must stop gabbling about birds! ๐Ÿ˜€

Not at all, I was interested. I googled pics of them and they are very handsome, striking looking birds. The only birds we saw during our 8 days in Iceland late October/early November, were ravens, which were absolutely everywhere and very impressive.

You will learn from experience that you recover from illness enough to resume normal day to day routines, long before you are well enough to do strenuous physical exercise. Have a break and come back fully recovered.

Thanks for that Iannoda Truffe. I think I just was caught out by the "up /down" nature of viral infections. I had waited, then tried a couple of brisk walks and a short trot over several days all of which went fine - and then today wasn't so good. I shall rest up some more & be patient. Best wishes to you too - I have continued to think of you. ๐Ÿ˜„

Oh Elfe, sorry to hear this, and I do hope that you are back to full running strength soon. In the meantime, rest up some more. The running will wait for you, I promise. (And damn this lurgy season!)

Whilst on the IC I have kept my mojo up by reading books about running, listening to running podcasts, checking in to the forum regularly, doing strength training and buying spring/summer running clothes. ๐Ÿ˜€ I am the queen of patience. Or a nutter (my boyfriendโ€™s opinion).

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

xx
