Post-baby return to running week 3: in which I am spoiled and scaffolded

Back to it after my mastitis-induced hiatus. The boobs have been saved by a lovely woman in the Liverpool branch of Bravissimo (highly recommended for anyone else trying to run with a pair of eye-blacking mammaries in tow!) and a hefty bit of Panache scaffolding: hooray!

l also had a Garmin for Christmas from my husband and his folks. I'm loving not having the battery-drain of runkeeper on my phone, but Oh My Goodness, I've started wearing it all the time while I wait to get the battery replaced in my normal watch, and have subsequently discovered I have the resting heart rate of an overfed 70 year old. Less biscuits on the sofa and more cardio are in order!

Hope everyone's enjoying their new-year running! Xx

Eep! That makes me glad that my elderly 110 can’t do heart rate 🤣

I studiously avoid my heart rate. No news is good news 😎

Once you’re running regularly all will be well. Your fit bod will return and it will be like you were never away 💪🙂🏃‍♀️✔️

Getting there slowly! And it's yet more proof (as if we needed it) that BMI is only good for telling you how tall and heavy you are: mine is currently allegedly perfect at the moment but I am definitely not close to perfect fitness yet.

I think I'm quite glad to know: been loads less active since finishing work, especially in my first couple of months of motherhood as I was so poorly, so it's a bit of a wake up call to get back on my feet! Different if you're running regularly and feeling good though: ignore away!

Panache is one of my favourite brands as there is a big variety of colours and designs 🙂

You're ticking off the weeks well TF 👍

Oi, Im 71 and my resting heart rate is between 53 and 59bpm I’ll have you know... 😜 but maybe that's high for someone younger??? Mind you, it does shoot up when Im running.

Bravissimo,is great. My shock absorber running bra is from them

BTW I take my hat off to anyone who can run when they are post baby. In my opinion you deserve a medal. I was like a brainless jelly till mine was two.

Also I am definitely brainless jelly too, just sometimes a slightly faster-moving brainless jelly!

I did say 'overfed' - and no it's not high: I'm envious! No ageism intended!

in reply to the_tea_fairy

My tongue was firmly in my cheek 😊 i know you werent being ageist.

Im pretty sure what is good for an old bat like me would be abysmally high for someone of youth and beauty. Plus it goes out the window when I run, when my maximum hr far exceeds what is deemed safe for someone of my advanced years.

Facebook puts me in my place by offering me stairlifts, colostomy bags and incontinence pants 😳

i strongly suspect I've needed incontinence pants more than you in the recent past! Thank god for kegels 😉

And I never look at my heart rate while I'm running on the grounds that if it's not ok I'll probably fall over, so I'll know about it.
