IC update - anyone any advice on back supports?

So further to yesterday's post I have now managed to see a GP for my lower back pain. I have been prescribed Naproxen and Co Codamol for the immediate pain and referred to a physio. The doctor also suggested a back support whilst running, does anyone use one or have any reccomendations?

I use one every now and then, if I’m having a flare up. They work for me Chris. My one is through a company called PhysioRoom.Com

Hope this helps mate 😊

I can imagine mate, hope you get it sorted 😟

My problem is degenerative so I have to live with it 🙄

Strangely enough though, the running doesn’t actually affect it, so that’s good!

Glad you saw your GP - hope you mend soon. Running will still be there for you. Take care 😀

Hi Chris. When I first started Couch to 5k I had lower back pain. Went to the Chiropractor and he sorted it out. Maybe something you could try? One bit of advice that I was given was to keep moving - I started to massage the area too. I hope you are pain free soon 😊

Naproxen is powerful anti inflammatory medicine and it works. However, what it doesn't do, it doesn't remove the cause. For that you would need a physio, and not a GP.

Lower back pain is common for runners. I first encountered this when I pushed beyond ten miles on a weekly long run. Core strength exercises have cured the problem, which is often caused by unequal development of muscles.

Yours sounds as if it is a trapped nerve and pain killers alone are unlikely to cure it.

Take care, Chris.
