Week 9 Run 2.

Run 1 went quite well so I know I can do the 30 mins ok but I honestly thought today would be a rubbish run. I'm bloated from all the festive cheer and have been fighting a cold, a big part of me thought it might be more sensible just to leave it until I felt more 'in the zone' but then I figured even if it was a bad run at least I'd have gone out and done it.

So off I went in the cold with my extra Christmas bulk weighing me down. I always try to start slow but even so it felt like a real struggle so I was surprised when the voice from my Fitbit announced the first 1k had only taken 6min 14 sec. I kept going and tried to pace myself but Fitbit man kept announcing faster times! When Michael told me 15 mins had passed I felt like I might not be able to continue so I really tried to slow down more and huffed and puffed my way through the next 10 minutes feeling like I was just plodding. My mind told me it might be better to stop as it felt really hard but I'm quite stubborn about not giving up on a run so I plodded on, certain that I was going slower than I ever had but at least I might last the 30 mins that way.

Michael FINALLY announced 60 seconds left and it turns out I was still running much faster than I thought because to my shock shortly after that the Fitbit man announced 5k had been run!! I couldn't quite believe it!

I was so surprised I forgot to end the run at the 30 min mark so the figures are a bit over here (and according to the final stats the 5k took 30 mins and 47 seconds but it was announced before the end of the 30 min run so not sure what happened there) but either way it just goes to show that even if you don't feel like going out and it feels like a rubbish run, push through it because it might actually be the best you've ever done!

I honestly never ever thought I'd manage it - I found the first week one of the hardest things ever, I'm amazed at how well this plan works.
