Hating my enforced rest

Still having to rest up whilst my painful hip settles down. It’s only been four days but I feel like I’ve been grounded for weeks. Really worried how far back this is going to put me! I had just started week 7. Grrrrrr 😩😩

Patience.

You won't lose much condition until you have been laid off for a fortnight or more.

Snap! I’ve been resting since Wednesday due to a pain on the inside of my left ankle. Ive no idea if it’s a calf strain or something else but I was due to start Week 9, and now I seem to have a ‘craving’ to run! I’m also worried about losing fitness...it’s so frustrating!

I know, it so is isn’t it? I’m desperate to get back out there but know I need to let this thing heal properly first - I don’t even know what it is or why it came , so frustrating 😠

I had a week off with a cold at week 6ish and was absolutely fine to just pick up and carry on. You'll be fine I'm sure

Im laid off with illness and hating it. My excursion yesterday, optimistically thinking I was better, has set me back again, so i empathise; but it’s also a cautionary experience. I’m glad to see from other replies that we wont lose condition that quickly. Im proud of my nice firm legs and defined muscles. Let’s use the rest time to recover and then get back out there soon 😊

rest and heal.. as IannodaTruffe says.. it takes more than a few days to lose the fitness:)

Oh sympathy- I too am waiting to get off the IC thanks to a strained calf.

I hope that you're soon mended and frolicking amid your wonderful scenery again. 😀

Don't fret about it. Any idea what causes it? It's more important you get rid of this pain completely before trying to run, especially because you're getting to the longer runs. You'll be fine when you pick up on the programme when you left it. I hope you'll get well soon!

Tx Anthie. I know you’re right, it’s hard staying put though 😐🙂

In a way, it means you've got the running bug ;-) And you would've never thought it would feel so bad not to be able to run when you started the programme a month or so ago!! Patience is hard but try to enjoy your forced rest (can you go for a walk instead or do you have to avoid moving at all?)...
