C25K+ ‘Speed’ Podcast

Hello, runfolk!

I did the C25K+ ‘Speed’ podcast (intervals) for the first time this afternoon and I really enjoyed it. However, I sort of feel bad that I only covered 2.6 km. I think this is because I’ve only run 30 minute and 5K runs since graduating. But it’s fine to just do a shorter run such as intervals occasionally, yes? (Sorry if this is a daft question.)

Well done.. and do not feel badly about it!

It is about disciplines and challenges in our running..not speed at this point and not distance. The podcasts are there to help.. not to be an instant running fix :)

Just take it steady, and enjoy.. learn what each one is doing for you and your running.. and yes.... shorter distances are a great idea.. :)

If I tell you I did 10K last Sunday... and a 1K ( a quick early 'get a run in') on Tuesday and enjoyed both equally... that should help :)

Thanks, Oldfloss, that does indeed help. I felt that the podcast did me a lot of good, even if I wasn’t out for as long as I usually am. I’ve done the Stepping Stones one and I’m going to have a bash at the Stamina one on Saturday.

A little known secret... but.. slow and steady can sometimes result in the unexpected:)

It's not just fine, it's positively a good thing. Mixing it up with speed and slower longer runs gives you different benefits.

I love the speed podcast as I love to go fast, but you can't do speed for 30 minutes. I also love the fact if I am short of time I can still get a run in and I feel like I have had a good workout by the end.

Great stuff. Thank you.

I tried the Speed podcast on Tuesday for the first time ...and covered exactly the same distance as you!! It's quite a workout even though it felt very brief, isn't it?

in reply to Jeani

Oh nice one! It is a workout, yeah, but very enjoyable. 😊

I'll second that :)

I think the Speed podcast is intentionally shorter, as it is making you work a bit harder, while the Stamina cast goes a bit over the time, while you are running slower if I remember correctly? I enjoyed both very much. My fave was Stamina for a long time. Though I could not get into Stepping Stones for reasons that elude me. Short runs and long runs both have their merits. Whatever you are doing, you are running and that's always a good thing :)

I found Stepping Stones to be fine. I’m going to try Stamina on Saturday. You’re right: running is running. 😀

Yes the C2+ casts have always had love/hate relationships with many users - particularly Stepping Stones - again - not sure why. Glad you are enjoying them so far and hope you have fun with Stamina!

in reply to Decker

Cheers! 👍

Stepping Stones is odd, I found also. I did a weird soft-shoe shuffle dance to it!

Stamina is tough Fun though 😃👍💪🏃‍♀️

in reply to misswobble

That sounds like a good combo to me. Will find out tomorrow…

Ran Stamina this morning. Quite challenging but I kept to the beat all the way through and I really enjoyed it. 😀

Oh yeah! Short fast runs are great, I found they really sped up my 5km times.

in reply to runswithdogs

Good! That’s what I’m after.

Hi,

I’ve run the speed podcast every week for few months now. I run the stamina one too and that is more challenging.

Because I know the speed podcast is shorter I can really go for it in the fast sections. It really helped improve my parkrun time because I knew I had it in my legs to sprint finish.

Well done for running it. I think it’s good to mix runs up a bit, don’t worry about the distance, this run is about building your body up to run faster.🏃🏻‍♀️

in reply to janief

That is great to hear, thank you. 😀

What do the podcasts consist of? Are they doable on a treadmill?

in reply to VictoriaRuns

They’re running for various times at various BPMs. I’m not overly-familiar with treadmills but I’d assume you could use them with one, yes. It’d just be a case of speeding it up and slowing it down I guess.

Not the last five minute section of Stamina. You'd probably take off!

Yes! I keep Speed for those days when I don't have much time, it's a useful little podcast

in reply to Curlygurly2

Great stuff. I didn’t actually find it too hard, but maybe I was just having a particularly energetic day. (Probably was.)
