morning one and all , so today was a HUGE day for me , i was supposed to be doing my first parkrun last week but due to no fault of my own i had to pospone till this week , so this morning i awoke so nervous ( anxiety sufferer ) , tried to put off going to parkrun so many times before hubby bundled me in the car to drop me off ! . i arrived in good time yet not sure of what was going on but everyone was so freindly , i chatted to a nice man who asked what time i would finish in , i embarrassedly told him probably last and about 45 minutes if i was lucky , so this is the first time ive not run solo , the first time at parkrun and the first time without music , the man i met said he and his partner would run with me i thought they were race marshalls or something but they were just avid extremely wonderful parkrun regulars , being my normal self i said it was okay i didnt want them to mess up there normal race by having to stick with me so he told me not to be daft and they were my companions all the way round , i even got tips on how to hill run from his lovely partner anna , i managed to run all but the top bit of the killer grassy hill so im happy with that , i was one of the last in in a time of 43.40 this makes me a little sad im so slow , but then i check myself and how far i have come , i enjoyed running with no music and i even managed to chat a little as i ran , i also got great advice on breathing , i had a wonderful ( and nervy ) first time and i shall go back next week and try get rind before they start packing up the cones , best thing about first parkrun is you get to ding the PB bell lol !!!
happy running one and all , oh i also have managed t met a lovely lady whom i will be going to our local running club with ( i have been umming and ahhing about this for a while too ) and that was after 1 parkrun lol the possibilities are endless if you ut yourself out there

Well done that is fantastic and having company and advice is great. Everyone at Park run seems so friendly and even the seriously quick runners are so encouraging. The first runner in at mine today was nearly a 20 mins quicker than me but we were told he was attempting his PB and he did it!
I have fallen in love with park runs 🏃♀️ I hope you enjoy your next one 👏
This is a fabulous post - I love it! Well Done! You must be so proud of yourself! I haven’t run for a while now as I have a problem with a couple of discs in my back but once I’m feeling better I will keep you to that original promise I made you all those months ago and I’ll see you at the bottom of the hill. 😄
Well done you, 👏👍I love parkrun, if I had been there I would have come round with you too. Welcome to the parkrun family, you’re in!.......now you’ve just got some free milestone t-shirts to work towards.....😄
Sounds like a brilliant first Parkrun to me. You are running for your own time and no-one else's😊. If it makes you feel any better I was beaten today by a man running his 100th Parkrun on his 80th birthday!
Secs, WELL DONE! Don't worry about being slow, that's a good time on first PR, and there are many helpers at PR to give motivation. I had a similar thing happen in my first PR, I had about a km to go to the finish when one of the regular runners came and ran with me to give some motivation when flagging near the end, and I finished about the same time as yours. I've noticed since that he does it a lot with the new runners, great guy! I now also like to give something back to help out and so I volunteer now and again..😊
