W6R1 - It's a bit of a beast!

I read other peoples comments about W6R1 and how it can catch you out - so I approached it with caution and I'm glad I did.

The first five minutes were OK, second 8 minutes and I was starting to feel Tuesdays 20 minute run and by the time I started the last 5 minutes run I was seriously hurting - legs like lead, shins, knees and ankles all letting me know they were there....

I finished about 100yds shy of my starting point so kept running till I reached it but I was struggling.

For the first time I didn't enjoy my run and doubted my ability to stay on schedule but this morning I feel OK and am already thinking about W6R2 tomorrow.

This running thing is additive!

So if you're reading this on the euphoria of completing W5R3, don't panic, but pace yourself and be prepared for a potential hiccup. Get through this and I reckon the end is in sight!

The end is definitely in sight & you will love the challenge & sense of achievement that comes at the end😊 this really is an amazing program & full of surprises many a time i finish a run especially the continuous ones & can’t believe ive managed it!! I too was so surprised with week6r1 and it knocked my confidence as well but i think a lot about the linger runs is learning to pace yourself and not start off too fast as confidence rises. As most will say slow & steady does it😄good luck & enjoy & definitely addictive😊

Well done... and the main things is...just slow and really steady. Don't forget those post run stretches too!

You have just done the longest workout to date, so congratulations on pacing yourself.

Keep that approach for the rest of W6 and in fact through to graduation.

You are over the hump now and the rest of the plan is gentle progression with consolidation built in.

Enjoy it.

Good stuff! As said, leg stretches also make sure you're well hydrated..

Ha! Am doing his tonight, or maybe tomorrow - am quite tired. Will proceed with caution!
