Week 9 r 1

Ran my first run of week 9 this evening : my first 30 mins !

Went well and enjoyed it but my knees are hurting a bit. Any helpful hints for achy knees - it will go away I am sure . Been thinking of getting cod liver oil?

Are you doing any strengthening exercises on your rest days? It might be worth doing some. There is a podcast on the C25K website which might be useful. Squats, and lunges are good, I also do some step ups as well. But don’t do too much- build up gradually.

P.s. well done for completing the first run of week 9. You are so close to graduating now. Fab. Go you...

Well done for getting that far! And good luck for the last bit.

What does cod liver oil do, by the way?

Cod liver oil is supposed to be good for the joints .

My Week 9 r2 is due for tomorrow : got a bit of a cold but hope to be able to do it !?

How is the weather near Bordeaux ?

We have had a lot of beautiful autumn sunshine. But now it's typical November cold and mist, fog even, very miserable. Where do you live?

I hope your week 9 r2 goes well. Let us know.

I'm struggling a bit with week eight. There are ups and downs in this business, aren't there?

Definitely there are ups and downs! I hope I will be able to do my r2 tomorrow as I am feeling a bit under the weather today. I am so worried to leave it and then loose the momentum as that has happened before !

You are nearly there too : don’t give up - there is not a big difference between running 28 and 30 mins.

I live in West London. Some of my family live in the north of France.

I used to live in Richmond, by the way. Where are you?

I haven’t done it yet :-( as I have been feeling unwell with a cold and bad tummy ! I am hoping to be able to go running again in a few days : I felt so close to graduating but now I feel so far ! Can’t wait to feel better ...

I live in Hillingdon!

Hope your running is going well ?

Hello bsimon,

How nice to hear from you, thank you for getting in touch. And many many congratulations on graduating ! I'm afraid I managed to miss your message on our thread, sorry about that.

I'm a bit stuck in week nine (four months to the day since I started). I find the long runs difficult and have managed 30 minutes just the once, a week ago. Since then I've been going out and stopping after about 15 mins. It's all good exercise, I know, but it's frustrating. I haven't given up, though.

How are you finding life as a graduate? What are you doing running-wise?

Here's wishing you a merry Christmas and lots of happy running in 2018.
