Treadmill.....what a difference!

Weather was absolute pants today so made a snap decision to use the treadmill at the gym for the first time! Omg what a difference! I found it sooooo much easier. I love running outdoors in the fresh air but I was really struggling especially with hills (lots where I live!) and leg pains. On the treadmill I had almost no pains, legs just a bit tired towards the end. In fact I felt I could have kept on running.....now that’s a first too! The treadmill is the way to go for me from now on or at least until I’ve finished the programme and my legs get a lot stronger.

Its more effective if you get some incline in there too. I used the treadmill a lot, not towards the end of the program, weeks 7,8 and 9, because the longer runs are so boring on the treadmill, but the shorter runs, with the incline at 2.5% is good prep for running outside.

The gym is usually (a lot) warmer too ..... ;-)

I hate running on the treadmill and we have a free gum at work! I find the lack of scenery and landmarks to gauge my run makes me struggle.

Ive been thinking about getting a second hand foldup treadmill for when it gets snowy and icy- which it does here. Im also longing to see how my running is on the flat. There are literally no flattish places to run in Chipping Norton, and my watch logged one of my five minute runs as three and a half minutes because I was going uphill so it obviously thought I was walking because I was so slow.
