Week seven run one in the bag!

It's another milestone, hitting straight runs with no walks. As usual on the straight runs, the first half was murder and then I found my groove and the last half was cruisy.

Up until now, I've gone to my bush track for the long runs, because I can keep going without having to cross any roads but I can only do it on weekends. Makes the victory not quite so sweet when you know part of your 'run' was spent waiting for cars to go by.

Still, it was a good run and I'll take it.

I can almost see the finish line from here :)

Yeah, it usually takes me the first half just to meter down to a pace that I can maintain - and hating every minute of it. Once I find my groove, I almost forget I'm running :)

OY! How do you do those little running guys? That's a neat trick!

W7R1 is a great achievement, and good that you’re finding your running groove, even if it is half way through the run. A lot of us find it takes the first ten minutes or so to get in the zone , some call it the toxic ten.

But keep at it and maybe start a little slower. You’re doing so well.

Happy running. 🏃🏽‍♀️

Aah! That makes sense. I hadn't read about that, before, so thanks for the lightbulb! Going to try a slower start tomorrow :)

Hi Zandy and well done on nailing W7 R1.

What Razouski said about the first ten minutes being so hard is down to the toxic ten as she says. It takes your body that long to take on the extra oxygen you need for the exertion of running, so your breathing gets heavier and you can build up lactic acid. Now, I know that I always start my run very slowly while I know this is happening and although I can still feel the change when I'm running fully aerobically, it doesn't feel so tough. There are articles about this on the internet.

Good luck with W7 R2 and s nice steady start.😊xx

Oh this appeals to my inner scientist! Reading up about it on The 'Glasgow Life' website, because I'm a Glaswegian at heart. I usually know I've found the groove when my mind starts to wander. During the first ten it is solidly focused on getting one foot in front of the other :)
