First Parkrun completed. You can do anything!

Hello everybody! Hope all is well, just thought I’d write a quick post-graduation message - hopefully to help encourage and to thank those who helped me on my journey. Today I completed my first Parkrun, this was my ‘impossible daydream’ when I started C25K and something I could only dream I could do. I still feel a bit of a phoney and like I’m pretending I should be there (!) which I need to work on, but I did cross the finish line today and hopefully nobody noticed my almost slip on the mud .. there was lots of it.

I knew I had to do it to satisfy my brain, was doubtful given the rain we’d had and actually thought the weather would be worse this morning. My family said they’d be there to support me - well none were up early enough so I just went for it. They did manage to cheer me on half way which was a great incentive to keep going!

The mud was a challenge as I’ve never ran in mud or puddles before and I skidded a few times (thankfully didn’t fall over!) nobody else seemed to slip, maybe training will help. It seemed tough, but I did it. I am used to running on my own on quite a private journey so I guess the biggest challenge was being around so many other people.

To anybody on this journey .. you are all amazing. Keep going, don’t let the mental challenge hinder what you can actually do if you stick to it. Because you really can do anything! Life is there for the taking, yes I’m feeling a little giddy!!

I was a little slower than I’d like but that’s because of the mud I think. I also need to be braver and get nearer to the middle of the line as I did find it a little challenge overtaking many people and with hindsight I could have started further up.

You can do it! Thank you everybody for your support.

Keep positive ..

Well done Sadeskin , I can't wait to be in a position to do my first parkrun. Currently still on the IC, but once I've beaten that into submission, it'll be all systems go. Think of the journey and how far you've come. You're positively an elite athlete now :)

Oh - just noticed the pic. You may get on better if you use running shoes :P

Brilliant work, Sadie! But running in mud?! Ugh! That scares me a bit, and makes you a hero in my eyes. I'm still psyching myself up for my first park run - my local one is also through woods and over muddy fields! I am longing for spring time...

Well done! 😘

Thanks fellow Sadie. The mud worried me a bit and I did slip a few times! Why didn’t anyone else?! I didn’t fall though. I’ve learnt you just run through the muddy puddles 🙈🙈 the mud was def a challenge. I don’t know how people don’t let it slow them down.

Keeping positive ...

Hope all is great with you! Xx

You should never try too hard on your first parkrun as today's time is what you will beat next week to get a personal best (PB) And you will, of couse, beat that the week after etc... 😀 Well done.

Those mud splashes, running medals they are, well done! My parkrun was very puddly and muddy, I had a blast running straight through every single puddle....🏃‍♀️😆 loved it!

Great job! Sounds like a wonderful adventure. It won't be long before you're splashing through the mud loving every minute of it.
