Blimey, go you!

It's do-able though. A few weeks consolidation after week 9, then build up to 10k.

Good luck!

Wow. Well done you. You can do it

I thought you were going to say the Marathon! Phew :)

Absolutely doable and good to have a post grad goal. Go you :)

It doesn't have to take as long to get from 5k to 10k as it does to get from couch to 5k, so you have plenty of time to continue slow and steady before your race.

You'll love it.

Thank you. Do you have to run it all?? Or can you walk for a bit in the middle??

Do whatever you like I think (although I have no experience of proper races) but I think I got up to 10k within a couple of months of graduating, so you will be fine. Say you do 4 weeks consolidation and then start increasing by 10% a week (so when you are at 5k x3, that will be an increase of 1.5k the next week ie 2x5k and 1x6.5 etc) so it bumps up really quickly.

I hope that makes sense!

Thank you. That's reassuring. Still won't tell family yet. They will think nana is nutty 😂🤡

If your question is referring to your 10k race, I would check the race details. Some races have a cutoff time after which you are deemed not to have finished, but I have never heard of a race that says you cannot walk.

You'll be fine - you know the mantra - slow and steady gets you there. Check out IannodaTruffe post on the 10% rule for extending distance. That'll make you feel a lot happier about your reckless abandon on putting your name down!!! Also there is a 10K challenge training plan coming up starting soon - see the pinned posts, that should help.

What a positive outlook you have on your future running plans - fab!

Fantastic - you have plenty of time to build up to 10k and it's a fab distance! Really good luck with your training and to your son too! My sisters is runnning the Brighton Marathon, so I'll be down cheering everyone on! Not ready for a full marathon yet myself but have got my second Half Marathon in March (Surrey HM)🙂

I’m doing the Brighton 10k, you’ll be fine, plenty of time yet.

Hi. Thanks - not going to think too much about it just yet. Finish C25k first. And then the 10K training coming up. Do you know if there is a time limit on the race??

I don’t believe there is, we set off before the main race I believe so need to make space if they catch up to walkers. I think that will all be covered in the race pack.

Oooh exciting...You will be fine with this Fergyfox😊...plenty of time to get your distance up once you finish the C25k plan. Do your condolidation runs of 30 mins for a few weeks, then when you are at or almost at 5k, sign up for Ju ju's 10k program on the Bridge 2 10k site on here. A six week plan which will get you up to 10k safely.

Good luck its a good target to have😊x
