Welcome to the forum.

My first question is always "What are you wearing on your feet?"

Running shoes fitted after a gait analysis can solve these sorts of problems. The wrong shoes can cause permanent injury.

By this stage you know whether you are going to persevere with running. If so, you need to bite the bullet and get good footwear.

It might of course just be the achey muscles that everybody gets for the first few weeks of any new exercise regime.

Take your existing shoes with you and be dressed to run for a few minutes.

Hi Kaz, I had exactly the same problem but it stopped in week 4 and I think that was because I was going too fast despite feeling like I couldn’t go any slower! The tip on the app says imagine you are running on one side of a hedge and someone is on the other side and they can only see your head and shoulders. They shouldn’t be able to tell you’re running and not walking. I must have been too bouncy and it burned my calves and didn’t get me anywhere! Good luck, I hope it eases soon 😁

Great thank u how did u stop the "bouncing " as that sounds so like me at the moment x

Take smaller steps where you barely lift your feet from the path. It will feel like you are going absolutely nowhere but in order to get through the weeks ahead that snail speed is a necessity, trust me! You’ll soon realise you were going way too fast and find a comfortable rhythm that is sustainable. Let me know how you get on 😊

THank you 😊 I thought I would struggle a lot more than I did so found it really enjoyable and pleased with myself for keeping at it x

Great news, well done! The more weeks you get under your belt the more the feeling of “how did I just do that and not struggle” will increase. Good luck on your next run x
