Back to the starting line...

Hey everyone!

I'm new to the forum but I actually completed the couch to 5k a couple of years ago...I carried on running after the program, and loved it for a couple of months but noticed that with the longer runs, the varying air temperatures really affected my asthma/EIB - something that I usually have under control. After one particularly nasty bout of it, rather than doing the sensible thing and heading to the gym, I just stopped.

Of course I am annoyed with myself for having to go back to week one, but here I am, two years later, one stone tubbier, and determined to do it all again - on a treadmill this time! I've always been a swimmer at heart, but having already completed the program I know that I'll get the running bug again - At least I hope I will.

Anyway, reading through some of your posts has been really encouraging, and I'm excited to crack on with Week 1 run 2 tonight :D

Christene Thanks so much! Just read your last post - congrats on completing week 8 run 2! You're doing brilliantly - and all that weight lost too! I'm looking forward to having a waist again haha

Well done to you for getting up off the couch and running again. I have just graduated and I had a terrible run Monday morning because of the cold getting into my lungs and I just couldnt get my breath and was advised on this wonderful forum to get a buff. You put it over your head and have it round your neck and then pull up over your mouth and nose. You can breathe ok but dont get the cold air down into your lungs. I have ordered one from Amazon and it is coming tomorrow or Friday. Might be worth getting one? Good luck with your new running journey and keep us updated xx

Virginia60 Thank you! That's a brilliant suggestion, I think I'll get one too - Sorry to hear you had a rough run, I hope the buff helps. There will definitely be times where I'm running outside so this will come in very handy :) Congratulations on graduating! xx

Thank you, it took me far longer than 9 weeks but I got there in the end and am now running 5K in about 35 mins so am thrilled! Enjoy your next run xx

Welcome back! You have done this once so I am sure you will soon be up to speed. Keep dropping in here too. I'm sure that this forum keeps me running when I feel disheartened or fed-up :)

Hidden Thank you! I hope so, I was thinking of jumping in around week 3 but I figured I'd go right back to the beginning and I'm glad I did...I think I'm running a little bit faster than last time, but the first run was challenging enough to tell me that week 1 was the right starting point! And yes I will keep dropping in, such a good dose of motivation already :)

Well done and welcome back! I'm a programme repeater, too and the 2nd time around I stuck with running 3x a week. Slow and steady, and have fun!

in reply to indigogogo

Thanks! Yes, slow and steady - that's the plan. 3x a week is plenty for me, I remember the first time I would get a bit ahead of myself and not take rest days or run 4 or 5 times in one week and all it did was set me back, so there'll be none of that this time!

Thanks so much for the support everyone ❤ Week 1 run 2 done last night :) Feeling better already!
