Wk 1 Run 2 - help!

Hi peeps, after a bit of reassurance I guess. Have never been a runner and am currently a good 4 stone overweight but want to be fitter and thought the approach of this programme sounded fab. Started on Sat, nearly died! Run 2 today and whilst the 1st minute was easier I really struggled with minutes 4-8 and barely managed to get to 30 seconds each time. Is this normal?! I'd already thought I may have to repeat this week to build up but am worried. Anyone else experienced this?

Are you trying to go too fast? Take the advice and go very slow and steady. Just a gentle jog. If you do not complete a run on the C25k you should repeat it until you can complete it. This is what builds your fitness and stamina and enables you do do the next longer run. Good luck with your journey. Well done for starting the programme 😀

I agree, go really, really slowly. You can build up speed later.

Perfectly normal, and many people have experienced it :)

So.. well done... now slow down.. and slow down more:) Your strength and stamina, with non impact exercise on rest days too..will build up with every run :)
