The 9 week programme will not (on it's own) burn enough calories to shift weight - for most people :(

HOWEVER, alongside a healthy diet you will see a positive impact and the weight will come off quicker :)

AND, in a very short time you will notice your muscle tone changing, you will feel sleeker and have greater body confidence :)

EVEN if you are not losing pounds, you may notice losing inches and that your clothes fit better :)

ALSO you may notice the psychological benefits of running, so that you feel more positive and determined to reach your goals :)

SO, why wouldn't you :) :) :) Good luck and keep posting here for support and laughs!

Hey. Losing inches , getting fitter I will be happy with that. I see it as C25k a starting point. Though feeling a bit shy going out to actually run. Hm ,maybe wait until it is dark. :)

Cheers :)

Runners are invisible anyway. People's eyes slide right off you as soon as they see your running shoes. Even better if you have brightly coloured shoes or tights or whatever.

My shoes are very bright :)

In that case you are perfectly safe from being observed by any passers by :-)

I wouldn't mind being visible if needing CPR! :)

Go for it and enjoy it. Don’t hide. Flaunt it. It is difficult at the start but after a few weeks you won’t care. You will love it. Imagine you will be starting the new year with a new you. I started C25K in April, I was a complete couch potatoe, failed many times before at C25K. Now I run 3 to 4 times a week, run Parkrun most weekends, have ran a couple of 5K races, joined an Athletics club, have loads of running gear and am a much healthier and happier me.

And most importantly post and read loads on this forum. It will keep you motivated.

Hey yeah I have a feeling I will enjoy it once I get started. Its the getting started. I have never been a runner, more a walker and cyclist, but over 50 and unfit! I will do it....feel the fear and do it anyway :)

Cheers

Running will get you fit and you will GLOW. In my eyes that is beauty. And, it will help you make better choices about what you eat and drink!

I have not lost any weight yet, but my wobbly bits are now firm and my legs are toned. Body has definitely changed shape and I feel STRONG!

Enjoy your running journey and stay tuned to this forum for cheering on and support!

Hi. I'd be happy with a glow, especially with the winter ahead. May go out tonight for my first run...well walk/run.

Cheers for the reply :)

Well done! But now you have to start doing the programme, just don't bank on c25k to lose weight, that really needs a controlled diet, but it can do what's already been mentioned, most of us have not done any running in the past, you'll need plenty of resolve, oh, and a decent pair of running shoes.

Its tough, but if you keep at the programme there is no doubt you will see the benefits of your efforts..😊

I do eat a well balanced diet, but my weakness is red wine...sugar galore! Will feel happier if fitter. Will go out later....see what happens :)

Thanks

Just drink less of it.. small steps.. I love champagne.. Good for the over 60s :)

But I drink a lot less than I did.. except at every one's Graduation parties :)

Thats the plan. Tried sober October.. lasted a week. Oh dear :(

Doesn't help when out shopping in a supermarket with all the different wines on display, just tried Malbec jammy red roo, very sweet! Luckily, we only have a bottle over the weekend..🍷

I will now see wine as a reward for my efforts over the week. Will only have wine at weekends. Will make a bottle last ...hopefully!

Welcome!

You have heard the advice.. a healthy eating regime and this programme, may result on weight loss, but no guarantees...:) Tighter, toned and feeling fitter, yes... :)

As for going out there.. do it... go and show everyone just how awesome you are... slow and steady and follow the programme...you will have great time and the rest of your gear will soon reflect your shoes.. Keep posting for great support and encouragement :)

I have just finished week 6 and have lost a stone. I am also doing the NHS healthy eating plan and I have just finished week 6 of that too. The two combined are magic :-)

Don't be afraid get out there and be proud of what you are doing.

Run/jog and even walksometimes.....at least you are doing something.

Eat healthy, a few exercises and jog and the pounds will start to come off. It will feel hard at times but keep looking up that tunnel and the light will get closer.

If I can do all that I am sure you can, have fun and enjoy.

Great stuff! You will be a bit achey at first, always stretch afterwards and rest day from running is a must.

I'm week 8 and was initially disappointed that I didn't lose weight, but then caught sight of actual calf muscles and stomach muscle definition in the mirror as the weeks progressed and have decided weight isn't so important!!! (and I do love a bit of chocolate)!! I too am over 50 and the feeling after Ive completed each run is great....slow and steady for me.....but haven't give up yet :) Good Luck and enjoy the feeling

Hey I think if there is any definition anywhere thats a result! As long as I start feeling and looking better I will be happy with that. I did feel good after my run...but dead on my feet, seems a contradiction but I think you know what I mean. Thanks for the support :)
