5k achieved! With the help of a little bit of walking!!

I actually completed a 5K this morning! All in all I ran for a total of 33 mins interspersed with 12.55 mins of brisk walking. My time of 45.55 was by no means fast - I'm no Speedy Gonzales but I felt absolutely fine. I even managed to run up a hill (my first hill - have been too scared before). I am now feeling a bit more confident about taking part in a park run now. I don't ever want to be the last participant in a park run, I'm scared of dogs and I would rather be in the mix, surrounded by other people. Oh well, I've conquered one fear - fear of exercise! - on to the next one I suppose!

Good work, well done! Hills are a great thing to conquer, now that's out of your mind it's literally onwards and upwards!!

Parkrun's organisers will always say you'll never be last as they have volunteers following and encouraging those at the back of the field. It's not a race in the true sense, though there will be a few Mo Farah wannabes! The sense of achievement at the finish is incredible!!. Remember too that you're actually out there doing it and gesticulating wildly at the former non exercising version of you! Good luck!

Thank you! I should just go for it, I know that I can. Good to know that there will be someone behind offering motivation!
