Unbelievable Wk6R3 nailed - I am a runner!πŸ˜œπŸ˜„

I am over the moon as have just ran for 25 minutes for the first time EVER in my 47 years on the planet πŸ˜„ Lower calves are a bit painful but chuffed with my breathing (I repeat slow and steady as Old Floss says) and I managed to really go for it on the last minute! Me!

At the start of Wk6, I struggled with the middle 8 minutes but had just had flu/pnuemonia jabs. Fast forward 6 days and here I am bursting with elation at 25 continuous minutes. I feel now that I can see the graduation carrot dangling ever closer.

πŸ˜‚My sister just texted that she doesn't know me anymore! which is a compliment.

Happy running, everyone, wish I could bottle this feeling.

X

Well done!! I'm only a couple of runs ahead of you and it seems to just keep getting better! And you're so right, the feeling of elation is amazing and worth so much more than any leg pain!! Am amazed to be here too...

Thank you! Feeling a bit stiff today for the first time so I think I need to start thinking about some of those strength and flex exercises for rest days that I keep putting off! Have got as far as downloading the podcast but that's it!

How do you find the pod cast I'd love to check it out

So far I haven't done the podcast ones, on my rest days I've done the Runners World ones that Oldfloss recommends, the Six Best Exercises for New Runners. I have to admit I'm struggling to get excited about it so far, I don't really enjoy exercise, which is why I'm so amazed I like running! But I know I need to do them. I will try and do the podcast ones this weekend and see if that is a bit more motivating.

I'm currently worrying about stretching exercises before running as I don't do those either, just the warm up walk. So much to learn!!

The podcast link is above..great for rest days, many of the forum runners used these...

Trouble is, it is so easy to get an injury..even when we do things by the book... I worked out a little regime that suited me, but since being injured( calf tear) I am really rigorous with stretches and rolling !

Just find a routine that suits you and make it part of your running plan. Some runners do not stretch before runs,,they just warm up.

WELL DONE YOU!!! Feels fantastic, doesn't it?

I'm hoping to get out for my first week 7 run tomorrow...

Now have a nice cup of tea!!!

You can bottle it... pop it away in the store cupboard of your mind, and on dark days, you just take it down and uncork it.. the feeling will still be there:)

Very well done you RUNNER!!!

The joy of slow and steady is... you will be totally amazed where it will take you!
