That's definitely not it then???? (Sorry, this is a long one....again)

Flippin heck...I'm like a rollercoaster ride!!!!

I am back at it...well & truly....

Firstly, I have some apologising to do...to all the newbies, Mid-rangers & nearly done'ers....sorry for giving you any doubts WHATSOEVER....DO NOT listen to me when I am doubting myself...You CAN do it & you WILL do it...please do not fear life after graduating, you just need to find another path...

Secondly, thankyou to all who responded to my last post, all your encouraging comments & virtual hugs (which I love) or virtual kicks up the butt..Thankyou Hidden for your message & GingerBohemian for your last post....

Well, its raining & windy & who can resist a run in the rain when its not rest day??? NOT ME!!!!! So, after having my hair done this morning decided to try & see if Laura could step up to the mark...So, trainers on, rain on eyelashes, wind in my hair I set off across to the park. Turned on the C25k+ podcast & Laura was talking ten to the dozen, she couldn't get her mouth round the words & the music was hideously fast, if id have set off walking to that it'd have been like a scene from Benny Hill, which we've had before on one of my previous posts, the one with the 'beefcakes' remember????!!!! So I thought I was going to have to revert back to Mr Smooth until I saw the + symbol at the bottom, so I clicked on it & she turned into motor mouth!! clicked again & she was all back to normal, correct tempo was resumed like the one that had the car rocking yesterday when I was practicing the rhythm...'Lets start with our 5 min warm up walk' she says...after standing in the wind & rain for 10 minutes trying to get Laura's voice & music in order it was a hot chocolate with marshmallows that I needed!! So, sets off through the park, over the 'billy goats' bridge where we like to play 'pooh sticks'...lets start running...the rhythm seemed a little slow but I wasn't going to start pressing any buttons I just got into it eventually...'This is ok' I thought....Cyril the squirrel made his usual appearance so I gave him a smile....and I settled comfortably into the run..I really, really enjoyed it, I liked the fact that Laura pipes up quite often, I liked that the tracks were all 5 minutes, the change of pace too...all worked for me, before I knew it I'd been running for 30 minutes & I covered 4.2k, which is blooming amazing for me!!!...So I walked, not sloped, home today...with a spring in my step..and a knowledge that I can do this...

While I was running, I likened the C25k programme to pregnancy....9 weeks (instead of months) of growth, building strength & nurturing, then graduating is like the elation of the birth...& the days/weeks/months/years following are all the chapters of life, good ones, bad ones...just like runs...good ones, bad ones...but they're all runs & they all add up

Happy running my lovely family :-)))

That's made me giggle 🤣 I'm just glad that you're enjoying the running again as I thought at one point over the last few days, you were going to jack it all in 😊

Well done on your run, you certainly sound far more positive - on to the next run!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to SC1472

Ooo, that sounds like a good tip...I must say they do look a bit funny shaped when they dry out, I was beginning to worry that my feet were odd!!!

Mummycav is back to glorious normal mummycavness.... is that a word even if not it should be!

Running after a hairdo that is so committed.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to

lol...I like it 'Mummycavness'...I know, I used to be a hairdresser so I go to the salon where I used to work & I usually dry it myself when they've done but today it just got a waft because I needed to get home to my trainers...

Great, positive vibes coming through loud and clear today!- I might be trying these podcasts on my next run day!

Mummycav profile image

She's good...because it changes throughout, the chunks of 5 mins are over quickly...move over Mr Smooth....well, for now anyway...

Wooh! Well done :-) I felt a bit like that when I tried the c25k+ with Laura. I went out in a rush first run post-grad and had only the Sami programme downloaded, as I hadn’t checked the rest of my downloads, blimey I’m certainly not fast enough for that one. Anyway, as you say, I like the way this podcast works with the track changes etc.

I like your analogy about pregnancy too - we really have given birth to a new life 😁

Good going - exciting times ahead!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to CarolineLou71

I think that's what I did, ok I'm a graduate I must be ok at it now, & off I went, only to come sloping home feeling completely useless & with no direction, but I feel so much better knowing these podcasts still have structure, that's what I need

So I'm only on week 5 but already worried about what to do once I graduate. Where do you get the podcasts you mention?

Well done on bouncing back!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to NMDR

Don’t worry about it yet..enjoy the rest of the programme...have a look though...iTunes podcasts

Are you doing stepping stones?....Already?....I'm not surprised you have struggled. What happened to consolidation?

Still you did it today- Well done :)

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to

I felt I just needed some structure so I looked at the C25k+....I really enjoyed it...the pacing and everything suited me, eventually...I think I’ve been going too fast

in reply to Mummycav

Well its turned out o.k, but you nearly put yourself off- SLOW DOWN Mummycav :)

How about a few weeks of just playing about with running, enjoying being a graduate and then deciding what plan you want to follow next. You have only just graduated and need to continue building strength and stamina...

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to

Think that’s what I’ll do...build it up gradually 😊

the C25k+ really helped me in the weeks following graduation too - the continued structure was something I needed. And everyone told me to slow down too when I hit a wall. it made a big difference.

Inspirational graduate mummycav alert! So happy that you have found a 'thing' to keep you going. Totally get being a bit 'meh' without a Plan. It can be really tough - but you always find the strength to even post about the "bad" runs when a lot of the time I bet people don't want to share those (like on social media... everyone's having a great time, all the time... how true to life is that I wonder!)

Love that people feel like they can share all that here and well done you for being part of that - though we'd always be happier to read that you've had a great run!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to icklegui

Thanks icklegui ...I felt a bit bad if I’m honest...so many people had used Mummycav & inspirational in the same sentence over the last few weeks & I had 212 replies to my graduation post, which is overwhelming & here was I having a bit of a melt down...although, it does help to know that when you do hit a wall or lose you’re way a bit, you’re not on you’re own...Thankfully, most of my posts have been good ones & that is a pattern that is set to continue 😉🏃🏼‍♀️💪🏻

icklegui profile image
ickleguiGraduate in reply to Mummycav

Aaah you've hit the nail on the head there, it's good to know you're not on your own! So, posting your "melt down" (I don't think it came across quite that way, just a bit of frustration!) is really helpful in many ways since you won't be the only one experiencing it.

For sure though much better for you to be having great runs! Whoop x

They’re not easy are they?? What week/run are you on?? Keep going...taking extra rest days are ok if you need them...I was not going to run again until today as I thought my sulk would last a bit longer...but I couldn’t resist & I knew when I laced my trainers up yesterday that actually it would be the running that made me feel better & guess what?? I was right...keep running...there’s no feeling quite like it x

Keep running mummycav and keep posting 👍🎉🏃🏼‍♀️😀
