Slow right down, you need to find a pace that lets you run the distance. you can work on speed later. Well done for getting out there :)

If you're out there running at this time on a Sunday morning, you obviously have something I don't. I'm still trying to talk myself into it! I hit a bit of a barrier in weeks 4 and 5 too, and I have loads of runs where I don't feel I'm moving much. On Friday someone overtook me at twice the speed, but I kept plodding on. Any run, even a bad one, is a whole lot better than no run at all. Do you use an app to measure your distance/pace? I use Strava, some use Map My Run. You will always have slow results sometimes, but it helps to see progress. Even a slow run helos build you up a little more for the next run. Look back and see how far you've come from W1R1. You can do this!

Thank you sandyscroll

I like running first thing I know must be mad it's Sunday my only rest day but I'm a early bird anyway 😊. I'm using map my fitness my pace 11.15 I bet that's really slow as well

I will keep plodding on though because I want to do this ....

I know my times are slow, but it doesn't matter because they are right for me. I can see my progress and work on speed later if I want to, just as helenwheels said.

I'm off to see if I can overtake some snails now. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Well done for doing it... :) You got out there despite the gremlins in your head!

Distance does not matter or speed, but maybe you could vary your route.. ? Are you taking it gently. landing lightly and trying to relax into the runs :)

You were out there, Sunday morning..my favourite day for running. So..pat yourself on the back and think how well you are doing.

Next time out, land light, breathe easy, look around and take it as slow as you like!

Take it from the Original Grey Snail... it works.. and you will, in a few weeks be amazed where you end up!

I did Wk 6 run 1 today and all of a sudden it feels like I may just be getting a pace ! That is comfortable and light. Exciting. I like the others don’t focus on my timing, whose running past me etc each run I try to work on what I learned from the last one. And the great tips from everyone here have really helped me. I love all mornings for running! Once tried early evening and body did not like it AT ALL ! πŸ˜‚ keep going !

I guess it must get harder as the weeks go on but remember the programme is designed to build stamina as the weeks pass. From reading the more experienced runners advice I would say slow right down and take it easy. Speed will come once you've graduated and more confident with running. I'm still jogging with the 🐌

I feel your pain! I remember feeling like that. We have good and bad runs, you just have to think of the reasons you started this and why you want it, cos some weeks are better than others. But, I must be a right donkey, cos it never occurred to me to slow down! Once I did, oh it was so much better! I was wired from the start to be fast (for me!!) but as the weeks go on, it's tough to maintain that initial 'speed' we might have. Plus our legs are doing things we've never asked them to do before! Be kind to yourself.... you are doing an amazing job - week 4 YAY!! Lots of us felt the same and look at us now! Stumbling about all over the place for a full 30 mins :)

I’ve had runs where I felt that way, but then I look back on the fact that I couldn’t even jog a minute 6 weeks ago! I sometimes surprise myself too - I’ll forget to think about breathing deeply, and suddenly check myself, only to find my breathing is remarkably under control.

My pace on my last run was slower than weeks 1-3, as in, my average running pace is slower than my walking pace. Though I’m also consciously running slower to ensure I get through. Every run builds confidence, and knowing I had a reward planned at the end of week 6 helped with motivation. (I let myself buy new running kit!) Might book a spa day to reward myself when I get to graduating!

You can definitely do it - stick with it, and don’t be afraid to repeat a run if you found it really difficult. I still look like a tomato jogging along at around the pace of a family strolling with a toddler. (Sometimes I manage to pass them... but not always!)

Well done for all your achievements so far!
