So,how's it been since I graduated 3 weeks ago?

Suddenly realised I hadn't posted anything since graduating 3 weeks ago!

Although I have added a few comments to some posts.

The first 2 weeks after graduating were difficult. This was mainly due to life getting in the way (elderly parents hospital appointments etc) and I only managed two 30 min runs in each week.πŸ˜•

But, I kept reading the posts on this forum and some kind soul wrote somewhere that any run was better than nothing!πŸ™‚

Then finally, last week I had a clear week - Hurrah πŸ˜€

I set off on the Monday for my first 30 min run of the week and waited for the first 10 mins to pass so I could get into my rhythm..... Didn't happenπŸ˜•

Ran for a further 7 minutes before I finally found my pace. I was intending to increase my time by a few minutes, but by the time 30 mins was up I was grateful that run was over!

I came home, sat down with a cuppa & read some of the postings on this forum. Suddenly, I read one that said not every run is good and that we all have "bad" runs from time to time!!!

Just as I read that posting the post run energising "glow", that I experience after every run, kicked in!!!πŸ˜ƒ Thank goodness, I thought I was losing my mojo!

The remaining 2 runs of last week were as good as always but then, yesterday, I had the same lethargic experience.

Remembering what had happened the week before I plodded on, focusing on that rush of energy & satisfaction that would follow afterwards. And I was not disappointed!

Even though the run itself was "Meh😬" the buzz and glow that I felt afterwards made it all worthwhile! I couldn't sit still all day!

I think I have worked out the problem though. Up until yesterday, I had been repeating Wk 9 (as I like the periodic encouragement from the trainer) but yesterday I installed Map My Run which showed that my pace had increased, and I hadn't realised!

So, it's back to slow, slow and slower for me! πŸ’πŸƒπŸ’πŸƒ

Have a good week everyone!😎

Sounds good. Just get out there and get into a routine of running. Well done πŸ™‚

Thanks IPπŸ€πŸ‘ΈπŸ»

Today's run was much better.

Up until now I had not really paid attention to pace stats, but today I made sure I kept to my comfortable pace.

I want to focus on increasing distance/length of time and routine - not speed!!

Well done! I'm still consolidating my 30 min runs. Went out today and only managed 17 mins (have been away and haven't run for nearly 2weeks) but according to map my run my pace has increased quite a lot. Think I will do what you suggest and slow down - need to concentrate on building stamina first. Keep on running!πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ

Hi Kimterry!

After 2 weeks of not running it sounds like it may be best to ease yourself back in - either by shortening the time or slowing the pace.

Being an older starter, I always wondered what the big fuss was about running. But I'm now totally addicted to the amazing buzz & glow of lasting energy I get afterwards!

Happy Running! πŸ˜ŽπŸƒπŸ»πŸ˜ŽπŸƒπŸ»

Yes, agreed - I will slow the pace and build myself back up 30 mins. The afterglow and energy boost is the best part for me! I didn't know I had it in me to actually run any kind of distance ! Happy runningπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ
