I just want to share how proud of myself I am I have just finished wk5r3 I never ever thought that I could run for 20 minutes in one go ! It seemed such a jump from 8 minutes to 20 I have been dreading it for the last week when I had a peak . Well I should never have ever doubted myself at 52 I am far exceeding what I thought that I could do so if I can do it so can you just take it easy and enjoy it I chose a route that I walk with my dogs through the deer park at Windsor so I knew roughly how far it was and how long it would take . Looking forward to week 6 now .

Brilliant! Big well done. The programme has been training you to be able to do this, and you did it woo hoo! It is indeed a good feeling (I just did it last week). Onwards and upwards, brave runner!

Congrats! I did mine yesterday. Now it seems that the beginning of the week must have been easy-peasy...!

Well done! Youโ€™re inspiring me to keep going. Iโ€™m w1r2 . Iโ€™m nearly 52 and an asthmatic and never ever thought Iโ€™d be doing this!

I am asthmatic too ! I know how you feel and I am so glad that you are on this journey you wonโ€™t regret it . I remember week 1 I struggled badly and thought my heart would explode but I survived and believe me when I say it does get easier just find a nice steady pace it does not have to be fast itโ€™s what feels comfortable to you and you can maintain . I kept saying in my head i can do this I can do this and dig deep when it hurt . I play music usually things I can sing along to in my head i find it helps to distract me and gives me something to focus on . Hereโ€™s to you carrying on and being proud of yourself and believe me it will help your asthma ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well done Neezy...that run is one that sticks in most of our minds, it took me 3 attampts! but I don't think its physical hurdle, its a mental one so good for you for not letting those 'You'll never do that' gremlins get to you....you're nearly there now ;-)))

You are right it is not physical itโ€™s definitely a mental hurdle I kept think what could happen to go wrong being asthmatic would my asthma flare up ( which it hasnโ€™t in a long time and I know my lung capacity is much better than average for my age now ) etc etc but once I set my mind to it and decided where I was going and made sure that it was on a day that I wasnโ€™t working so wouldnโ€™t be too tired I was determined to finish it. It worked ! Usually the first 2 minutes of running make me want to quit my lungs hurt but not today I do admit though when jo came on to tell me I had 2 minutes left my heart sank as I thought she was going to say I had finished lol ๐Ÿ™‚

I find that after the first 10 minutes (the toxic ten) everything starts to settle...its awful when it goes quiet & you think itโ€™s finished but then they announce another minute!! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ™„
