W8R2 - went to plan this time!

Found myself wondering yesterday evening why I hadn't gone for another attempt at this (last ran Weds), but it was too late for comfort. So I spent some time *planning* a route, which I've never done before, and checking the elevations... I didn't want any more unexpected slopes, but thought I might be able to cope with some expected ones.

Sailed down the stairs and straight out the automatic doors (hurrah) to the sound of Tony Blackburn promising some cheery 60s tunes and the lovely Jo telling me how awesome we all are for reaching week 8 (I forget the exact words, but that's the gist by now, isn't it?). Warm up walk - tried speeding that up towards the end too, so that running isn't such a jolt and also I felt more actually warmed by the time I started to jog.

Tackled the first uphill, crossed roads safely, got slight doubts about the linear passage of time when Jo said "10 minutes" - I am pretty sure the next 4 minutes to the halfway mark were incredibly long, but I reached "Ranmore Avenue" safely and then a glorious long slightly downhill stretch - with "Got my mind set on you" new fave running track - "got my mind set on week 9, got my mind set on week 9 ... it's gonna take money" (for running gear...) I did speed up enthusiastically during this song but the dirge (I mean it kindly) of House of the Rising Sun slowed me back down after. Ridiculously I finished the run on "Pretty Woman" ...erm... my swishy ponytail was more like a soppy dishrag, my leggings were threatening to roll far too low for comfort (other people's and mine), my feet in their "sports socks" were basically in puddles of sweat and TMI ALERT mypantswerewedgiedquiteuncomfortably (sorry sorry). Oh and I was wearing men's deodorant. Sweaty woman ... please walk on by!

But despite that I cooled down through the park and did my post-run stretches to "Working my way back to you (with some burning lungs inside)", dedicated to my post-run shower which I worked my way back to quite contentedly!

Onwards and gently upwards! Four more runs to go!

I'm so sorry! More running-appropriate gear is necessary (I think a certain reply to another post on here might be a good starting point!) ... sometimes I wonder if these forums are sponsored ... !

I'm more keen than ever for my next run though :)

Fab post and doing great!!! 🎉

Brilliantly done, I do love Ranmore Avenue, that's just a brilliant name. Wedgie issues, well erm we all get them from time to time, it's just how honest we are about it!

I think you were very fortunate to get away with the unseen wedgie issue, because lady if those leggings had totally lost their 'lastic and lycra. I am guessing we may have seen headlines such as

Semi-streaking runner seen on Ranmore Avenue....

Mooning runner seen to to the tune of House of the Rising Sun...

Well done closer to that podium
