Yes yes yes!!!!! W5R3 I'm no longer scared....

I usually run around 4.45pm, so as to be completely sure that the school bus has officially left the area....but it was W5R3 today and I was itching to get it done, so off I went this morning, 2 degreees outside, so had the additional donations of husbands beanie hat and daughters gloves, (son's baseball cap for warmer days stayed at home today) and for the first time had steamy breathe out there. As always, first 8 or so minutes, including the walk a bit sluggish, but couldn't believe when my friend Michael (he calls, and says its ok to eat my daughters home-made brownies, well thats what I tell her...!) informed me 15 minutes done I could barely beleive it!!! Last 5 minutes I felt as if I was running on air. Sia in my ears and the farmhouse down the road in my sight......done it!!!

Punching the air, not caring if anyone witnessed that, I'm now cooling down with a smoothie (home-made of course...!) knowing the day can only get better.

Thanks each and everyone of you, I actually could not have done this without the forum......happy Friday!!!!

Congratulations, you have completed the biggest test in C25K, in my opinion anyway. I believe W5R3 is a mental challenge, the other runs get your body to the point where you can do this but it's your mind that holds you back, I've only run for 8 minutes, there's no way I can run for 20!

I was really concerned about my fitness before I did this run, I was actually laying in bed thinking about it, could I do it, was I ready, etc.

So I went and did it, it then clicked in my head, if I can run for 20 minutes, I can run for 25, if I can run for 25 minutes then I can run for 28, if I can run for 28 minutes then I'm damn sure I can run for 30!

I'm not saying the other runs are challenging but now you'll know, in your head, you can do them

Enjoy the grin, I can guarantee, any shiny surface there will be a different you grinning back.

What a great run and a fab way to start your day! Others will know best but, having done that run on Weds, I found I needed and wanted to keep my body moving yesterday - brisk walk for me - and I'm glad I did, as today's W6R1 lived up to its mean reputation. Enjoy such a great achievement - Happy Friday to you😊

You have done brilliantly! Well done you...onward and upward :)

Make sure you fit in other exercise on rest days.. particularly important as the runs get longer.. core strength and stamina work will help your body to keep pace with those newly found running legs:)

Thanks oldfloss.... 😊 will see what I can do on the 'rest' days.... Any tips?

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to Nickycatwoman

Strength and Flex.. ? Many of us used those..they link in well with C25K

nhs.uk/livewell/strength-an...

I have a little regime, I use too.. off You tube but I find it great.. :)

youtube.com/watch?v=qoxqZXZ...

All good for strength.. I need all the help I can get :)

Swimming. ..cycling... yoga... a day in the garden.. working hard... and even a blitz housework day... and of course walking !

I am getting loads of that pushing small runner in training around.. average 10 miles a day.. :) I look forward to run days.. for a rest :)
